I found this via the Franklin county sheriff's concealed carry page:
https://sheriff.franklincountyohio.gov/ ... t-2015.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is the updated version for the new laws. This has not even been published on the Attorney General's site yet - it has the previous version still out there.
ETA: Version now listed on Ohio AG's site: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/geta ... DF%29.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Attorney General handbook - 3/23/2015 edition
Heh. I am amused that it still contains the following:
In this publication, “CCW” stands for “carrying a concealed weapon”
and refers to the Ohio license to carry a concealed handgun pursuant
to Ohio Revised Code Section 2923.125.

Re: Attorney General handbook - 3/23/2015 edition
He must have missed the memo where they changed that throughout the entire law. I think it's funny that officers still call it that as they read the LEADS response that now says CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE instead of CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT.JustaShooter wrote:Heh. The new application is there as well. It appears that it no longer asks for all previous addresses. Having just completed my training yesterday and having problems remembering the addresses where I have lived over the last 42 years, I was glad to see that it doesn't look like it is necessary any more.

I would guess it's not on the AG site because it's not 3/23 yet.

Yes, you can take the class portion online..The NRA is developing what they call a "blended" course..Although I don't think many if any instructors are going to accept the online class portion.....I know if I were an instructor..I would shy away from it.lucky43113 wrote:according to local news you can now take the ccw class online all but the live fire part of course any one have any more info on this
"Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home
Let me die in a pile of empty brass."

Re: Attorney General handbook - 3/23/2015 edition
Not sure I fully agree with that. The state gets no money from instructors if they do their taxes properly. The NRA gets very little from instructors. Instructors make very little by the time you figure in supplies, classroom space, training aids, etc. I know when I was actively teaching on a regular basis it took me over 2 years to make my first dollar. And probably since I was teaching one class a month, I've lost money. It's more of a hobby to most than a business. The big box gun ranges that teach on the side probably make money as they are already running a store, have a range, and will most likely sell store inventory to students.lucky43113 wrote:the whole class thing is just a money maker a lot of states like Georgia dont even require a class just background check that's it
The background check is where the money is. I know some counties rake in money on accepting applications, that's where the money is.

Neither did Alabama...But I don't think training is ever a bad thing..Especially when you can get jammed up pretty easily for making a bad/snap decision.

Teaching the class is not unlike owning an old wooden boat.

And the happiest day of a boat owner's friend is the day said friend buys the boat. The saddest day, is when said friend sells it.djthomas wrote:The happiest day of a boat owner's life is the day he takes possession of same.Tweed Ring wrote:Teaching the class is not unlike owning an old wooden boat.
