I couple of weeks ago, we had taken our 9 year old to a camp for kids with medical conditions. My wife, father-in-law and 3 of our other kids were with us. We had just gotten on I-71 to head home and saw a large SUV roll several times. Anyway, we pulled up the rest stop on ramp and my wife and I got out to help. I'm a medic and she's an ER nurse/EMT. I was carrying at the time, of course. In all the commotion, my gun had revealed itself. No big deal. When OSP finally got there, there were 3 troopers. There was one standing behind me while I was tending to the driver. I looked up to see the other trooper point at me, tap the side of his holster and give an "OK" hand signal and a nod. After the squad showed up, one of the troopers came up and asked if I had witnessed the wreck and wanted a statement. Politely, I mentioned I had my CHL and was treated to a, "I figured," response. One trooper talked to my wife and I for a few minutes after our statements and that was that.
About the wreck.........it was a Ford Excursion that had rolled 3 times. The family was from out of town and the mom was driving in her father-in-law's SUV. She was unfamiliar with it. One of the kids in the back seat did not have her seatbelt on and was lying down on the seat to rest. She had gotten cold and asked her mom to turn down the A/C for the back. That's when the mom looked up to the top console to change the A/C, started to swerve and over-corrected causing the SUV to roll. Moral of the story is to pay attention. I know that we hear all the time about texting and driving, but taking you eyes off the road for a couple seconds can change your day in a hurry. Fortunately, everyone was ok. That's the PSA of the day.

I had a similar incident last week.. Seems like the OSHP gets it? At least a few do.
I'm glad you all were there to help and it seems that they will be ok. No seatbelt and a rolling vehicle is a combination that tends to end poorly.

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People."

Re: OSP A+ (not a traffic stop)
I have a friend who is a OSP Trooper and he says when he pulls over a car and runs the plates and knows the driver has a CCW permit, he will ask if they are armed. If they say no, he will ask why not? He tells them they should exercise there 2nd A right. He says that people ask him if it makes him nervous when he pulls over someone with a CCW. He says no why should it. I know they have had the training on how to handle a firearm and they are not a felon because of their back ground check.
I also had to call the local PD to come to my house because I found a hypo needle on a vacant lot. I wasn't armed at the time but decided since I had never had to notify in over 5 years that I would see how it went. I armed myself with my LC9 in a pocket holster and waited for the PD to show up. The officer that arrived was a very young maybe 25 yr. old. He walked up to the driveway and I shook his hand and said that since this was an official visit that I must notify that I have my CCW and that I am armed. He just looked at me and smiled and said "Okay just don't shoot me"! We both had a good laugh and I showed him where the needle was and he picked it up. Then we started talking guns and ended up going into the garage to show him my LC9. All in all a very positive encounter.
