FNG from Wauseon
Been awhile since my last forum board...
But my name is joel welsh.
I'm an army veteran that's come back home to the midwest.
Love shooting and trying to start my small collection of toys.
Been stuck on 1911's. I've always loved the look and feel of them.
My granddad would have had one during his service in WWII so that got me interested in them.
I carried The M16 during my time, and have liked them as well since I held my first.
Today my daily carry is a kimber ultra in .45acp.
Never carried anything else!
Im over 40, have five grandkids and in no way am I "normal".
Been perusing the site for a few hours now- and like what I read.
Appreciate the board and letting me join.
Looking forward to more reading!

Well.... lol I'll try.Pops Fun wrote:Welcome... Define normal..
First of all, thanks for the welcome guys.
Anybody who has ever served will tell you that I/we just did our jobs.
So it's hard for me to know how to respond sometimes when thanked,
'specially when a Vietnam vet is the one thanking me.
They deserved so much more, and the small bit I played lets me know just how much they do.
so... me normal.?
I'm 41 and have five grandkids and one great grandkid,
my wife is 61, and we've been married for twenty years the upcoming 17th.
She's Mexican, born in Michigan, and didn't speak a word of Spanish til she was 21. After all these years together, I still cant speak Spanish to save my life.
I went to school with my oldest step daughter.
I lived around the corner from where my wife lived when I was a kid.
One of her/our closest friends is a local officer. He gave me most of the points I had on my license as a kid.
He lived over the grasshopper restaurant, next to where my wife lived just before I met her. which is where she worked. her mom owns it.
I've driven army vehicles in more countries than most people have even visited.
Every single active duty unit I served in- has been de-activated and no longer exists.
I've helped restore or build several classic Volkswagens, and used to be big into them.
I own a 1964 Austin cooper which is right hand drive, from England.
I traded my last Harley for it- I rode legally from 2000 to 2010. and loved every second of it.
I gave up riding due to nerve damage injury in Iraq. I miss the h**** out of it.!
And there's so much more... but that's long winded enough.
One last thing- anytime someone has told me that id fit right in being not normal...
I have, and then met the coolest people and best friends of my life.

Welcome! I get up to Wauseon a few times every year for the IDPA & Steel Challenge matches at Fulton County Sportsmen Club. Usually shooting a 1911 of some sort.

Hey, I got your pm about shooting but I don't have the ability to respond back to you. If you can pm again with an email that would be great. Thanks
