The clock is ticking down to a great fall weekend - and another gun show at the Westland Mall in Columbus!

OFCC will have a table at the show, and we are always looking for people to help out. Come on over, meet some like-minded people, and have some great conversations as we spread the word of what OFCC does in the pro-2A community.

Added bonuses for your time:

1) You will get into the gun show free! If you volunteer for a morning (Saturday or Sunday), then you can get in early to look at what the vendors have. Always a plus to get ahead of the crowd!

2) If you volunteer some time at the table, you get entered into a drawing for the 2014 Fun 'n' Gun at TDI. Wow!!!

3) You get to meet me! (Well, ok, that might not be a bonus - but Chuck will be there too to make up for your disappointment!)

Even if you don't volunteer - stop by and say 'Hi!' if you make it to the show. I promise not to kidnap you into forced volunteering at the table!

Great weekend at the gun show
The crowds seem to be getting smaller at each show, but still, we signed up several new members and had lots of discussion on the pending legislation.
Shortland was there today, JustJack drove all the way down from Findlay to help out today, and Princess came out and spent a couple hours at the table chatting up HB 203 and gun rights in general.

We had handouts of the talking points on HB 203, a detailed explanation of removing the duty to retreat, and lists of all the pending legislation in committees, both pro and anti.

Had a great time today. Got to meet some interesting folks, including Stryker74, Shortland, Chuck, and Princess. I also got to watch Chuck talk in circles with a guy who's complaint was that HB 203 had too much in it and that we shouldn't be trying to get the CHL to count as our NICS check at FFLs because "I don't know what you did yesterday" (Implying that the background check you had when you got your CHL wasn't current), but was ok with no background checks on private sales.

OK - Chuck and JustJack beat me to it. I had to spend some family time last night, and got a little lazy afterward (a full belly will do that to you!).

Good weekend indeed. Many, many thanks to Chuck, JustJack, Shortland, and Princess for coming out to help at the table. It is great to see the spirit of activism growing with these shows. Had a new member sign up Saturday so that he could come spend some time at the table with us at the next show.

We had an interesting conversation with a couple of young men with lots of questions - one said he had recently gotten his CHL. One point I noted - there is still some misinformation going out via trainers (or it is misunderstood by the student). But the best part of the conversation was when the topic of badges was introduced by a vendor that was next to us. I won't spoil Chuck's future post on this one - but it was an interesting conversation.

The vendors were more than last show, but the crowd was a little less. There were non-vendors there that I see at every show - but there were also a lot of new faces that were there. As far as signing up new members, this was our best outing yet - so I hope we can keep this roll going through the end of the year!

We have 2 more shows this year in Columbus. December 6-7. and again December 27-28. I will be putting up a thread for the next show in the next day or two - but I will start the call out now. PM me if you want to come out to the table for a little while to help at the next show.

I owe djmac1964 an official wrap up - I will be getting to that later today with all the specifics.
