No BASS for March either. It was close but the main range repairs aren't done in time. Close but not quite. See you all in April

Hi,
I'm new here.
Question: what are gun's limitations? I have S&W M&P with red dot sight installed - can I participate?

No problem. I've seen everything from 5 shot revolvers to race guns used.Stan13 wrote:Hi,

Yet another question.
It says there (at StoneWall) that at least 3 mags are required. I only have 2 for my M&P and it is practically impossible to by any extras.
Can I still play?

Re: B.A.S.S. Match monthly@Stonewall
You should be all right with 2 most of the time. A lot depends on the course of fire and number of rounds in your magazines. I usually shoot a 1911 and if an alley requires more than 17rds, I need that 3rd mag! That said, it's unusual for that to happen. If your M&P is in .45ACP with 10rd magazines then there's a small chance you'll have an issue. .40S&W with 15rd magazines or 9mm with 17rds should both work fine. You will want to get additional magazines as soon as possible though if you're going to shoot any of the practical pistols sports. I usually have 7 or more magazines for any gun I own. 2-3 for daily carry and 7 to bring to matches.Stan13 wrote:Yet another question.

Re: B.A.S.S. Match monthly@Stonewall
Jake, guys,
I am pretty new here, but I'd like to come up with suggestion...don't laugh to much.
Here is the deal: there will be more new guys coming, some of them (like myself, for example) might be well familiar with common guns safety rules, but not actually experienced in some obvious rules of handling the weapon at competitive shooting.
What if you make a list of such a rules and some FAQs, like, one page, I can print them and you could hand them over to any new person who shows up?
I personally at my first day would appreciate if anybody gave me 'all I need to know' printout.
I mean, something very basic, like:
gun must be always with mags out unless you are ready to shoot;
you can't draw empty and unloaded gun at the main range if you need, say, to adjust something - as I was told today (although I myself saw many shooters drew their guns to look at the targets in that blinking light);
actually, where should I go if I need to, say, check something with a gun?
what is the right order of 'load and holster', esp, what you do with manual safety if you have one?
or, like, what is the right order to holster when you are done with exercise - f.e. take off and holster the mag,rack, pull the trigger, holster the gun, pick up your dropped magazine and spare cartridge in that exactly order..
etc...
I mean, I'm getting all these answers one by one, but it would be really nice to have them at once.
What do you think?
