Oberlin Park Open Carry Meet'n'Greet/Walk 9/7 & 9/15

Post by BriKuz »

We would like to invite everyone to the Park Street Park* in Oberlin, Lorain County for an open carry Meet & Greet and education walk.

This event will be taking place on both Saturday, September 7th* AND Sunday, September 15th*.

The purpose of the event is to spread awareness of legal open carry to the citizens of Oberlin before their council decides whether to update their unlawful ordinance banning firearms in Oberlin City Parks, or to attempt to fight such a change through the courts.

It is likely representatives from the news media will be on hand for at least one of, and perhaps both of these dates, so we ask that folks be prepared to discuss our position in a calm and rational manner without resorting to the emotionalism so prevalent among those that do not believe in the inherent right of self-defense.

* Edit to add:

I almost never use them, although I have been told I sometimes should
I always thought that if I have to tell someone I'm joking that sort of takes the joke out of it,,,,

I really really wish we had a forumite who could do a good job strummimg on a guitar and leading some vocals. It would really add some flavor to come up with some kind of pro-gun, anti-Oberlin, hippie-sounding protest song. I think we'd send a few locals into apoplexy. Radio/TV would gobble it up.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

<sings>
We won't give up our freedom,
To statist scum like you.
We value our own protection,
It's the right thing for us to do.

To protect ourselves is our right,
And our responsibility.
If more would understand this,
What a peaceful world it would be.

My gun never hurt nobody,
I hope it never will,
but if someone hurts me or mine,
It may just have to kill.

Note: Please dress decently... Cleveland Plain Dealer will likely have a photog there... nibbles from other news agencies...

My wife and I were thinking about holey jeans, torn, stained white tank tops, and our dirtiest, oldest flip-flops :-) NOT!
