"Dave" --if that is your real name-- as much as most any outsider would find the ironic humor in that sign about not putting up signs, you can bet that no one who works in Mt. Gilead's administration would get what we're laughing about.
Good work. Been traveling too much lately or I'd have invited myself and all comers to hit that fair this weekend, openly armed of course.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Ah, now I see more clearly. Could be I would have some time during that week, we'll see.

1911 and Browning Hi Power Enthusianado.
Just got off the phone with Chief Zerman, Mt. Gilead Chief of Police and Head of Security for the fair. He said the signs are coming down, they may or may not go up on buildings. See anyone who decides to go on Monday!
My thanks to Chief Zerman, Captain Underwood, and the nice lady at the Fair Office for their parts in getting the signs removed.
Big thanks go to BriKuz and everyone else who spends their valuable time working to make public entities follow the law.
Also, thanks to everyone who points out non-compliant signs, ordinances, rules and regulations around the state. That's where this type of activity starts. If it weren't for you (I hate to use this phrase) SEEING something and SAYING something, others wouldn't know about these issues.
Drove past the fairgrounds last night, about 7:00 PM, on my way back from Columbus. Looked crowded - but - I didn't see any SWAT team or any National Guard. Must have been a peaceful gathering.
It went really good... Deputies got more questions about breastfeeding in public than about carry of firearms.
One of the retired deputies stopped my wife and I and said "If you guys ever want to cover up, and I'm not saying you SHOULD, just, if you do, I make holsters." He gave us his card...
One overheard conversation:
Woman: Don't get ME one.
Man: Well look, SHE'S packing! (Pointing at my wife)
Several comments of "I didn't know we could carry, here. I would have brought mine! I'll be carrying next time I come."
Eye95, MWSY, Chuck, and Brian D. had some nice convos with people that I missed, as the two year-old wanted to play and see horses.
Hopefully, some of the others will report... I'll give a more in-depth when I get home... I'm SLAMMED at work.
