Dublin AMC 18 Not Posted!

Post by OhioMoose »

I don't go to movie theaters often, but have been to Dublin AMC 18 twice this week.

They previously had been posted CPZ, but at present they are not! I looked closely at the area of the outer and inner doors.

There is renovation & construction underway, and they might get around to posting again, but for the time being they are not CPZ.

Good to hear when one comes down.

I have started going to Marcus Crosswoods since the Rave in Grove City is now a CPZ AMC theater. I really like the Crosswoods - they have diet Mt Dew!

When I lived in Columbus, I often went armed to the Dublin AMC. If you parked in the parking lot immediately north of the theater and then walked to the entrance, the first 2-3 doors were never posted. Rumor has it the center door "may" have been posted, but I never entered that way.

The AMC's are invalidly posted in Texas. The 30.06 sign requires block letters an inch tall. Their signs are posted away from the entrance using 1/2 inch letters. If I wanted to go to AMC here, I could and would carry past the invalid sign. However, I have plenty of theater choices that are not posted at all, so I choose to boycott AMC for their anti-gun stance.

I wish Ohio had a required sign standard. Maybe something at least 2-feet high by 1-foot wide, with purple 2-inch block lettering on a fluorescent green background, or something else that is equally ugly and annoying, on every operable door. I bet we would see fewer signs.

That reminded me - that was where I had my first "encounter" soon after I got my license. I exited the south side doors with my family, and the lights in the parking lot were not on (it was around the time of the time change in the fall). A figure stepped out the of the shadows and took up pace behind us. After about 3 steps, i realized he was gaining on us - so I positioned my family in front of me and swept my coat behind my holster to put my hand on my gun. That was enough that to "persuade" that person to turn and run away.

I have not been back to that AMC since then.

I carefully checked all the doors across the full width, and no signs.

Here they post the invalid sign on the glass at the side of the ticket booth, after you have purchased your ticket.

As I understand it, AMC posts in general, yes? I have no problems going to Marcus Cinema at Crosswoods (by 23 North and 270)

I have no doubt that once construction is complete they will re-post on their doors.

For the moment however, they are not posted as a CPZ.

Part of me wishes that as well but would that backfire on us? I think it would awaken the gun-control crowd to a new mission and they would fund the signs and a lot would post as they see no harm or expense in it themselves. We'd have to be prepared for a huge offensive action to stay ahead of them because if we go on the defense we'd be behind and have more work to do.

If the signs are ugly enough (i.e. the Texas signs) I don't think most places would post... they wouldn't want some big ugly sign on their door. Only the most ardent antis would post... that's what I think would happen. Besides, if I can be charged with a crime - there should be a requirement for signage. Even the smoking law has signage requirements and there's no criminal element to that offense...

And now.... posted on every entrance door.

For a while, there were only 2 out of 5 doors posted but they upped their game.

I don't go there to watch movies. It's always for business.

I would hand them an OFCC "No Guns, No Money" card, but it would cause problems for me and my employer.
