Help at Veterans Day Shoot (RSOs)

Post by FlyinCedar »

I have no clue where to post this, mods please forgive me if it is in the wrong place..

I was tallying bodies today, and we are coming up short for RSOs (Range Safety Officers) for our Veterans Day machine gun shoot. I have other people that I can go to, but I figured I would ask here first, and extend the opportunity to some that may not get it otherwise.....

First and foremost, it is on a volunteer basis. You'll get some free ammo and range time, free food, but not physically paid.

Ideally, we want individuals who have experience working with non experienced shooters. This does not mean you must be an istructor. There are instructors that I would not allow on my range, so that is definitely no a prerequisite. Bottom line, even though its voluntary, I have to have a warm fuzzy about you on the firing line, and know that you'll grab a hot machine gun without thinking, if needed. Obviously with gloves on :D

Experience with machine guns is a plus, but not mandatory. We will be running everything from M4s and AKs, to SAWs and 240Bs. If you're a quick learner, prior experience not necessary. You will not be instructing in any way, other than showing how to load and unload the weapon. Able to communicate well with people in a clear, concise manner, and keep your cool at all times is a must.

Last but not least, I am not assuming that everyone here is allowed to own/use firearms, so if you are subject to a civil protection order, have been convicted of any crime of domestic violence, any felony charge, or for any reason are not allowed on either the state or federal level to own or use firearms, please do not offer to help. You will be required to fill out a waiver, with Lautenberg certification, which we will keep on file in case an issue should arise.

If interested, send me a PM. Give me some time to sort through my PMs and respond. I may not get back to you right away. Be prepared to provide a phone number for me to call you and discuss. If you are not willing to provide a direct contact number, do not send me a PM.

For info on weapoins lineup, etc, check out the webiste for the shoot, http://www.veteransdayshoot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Shoot is located south of Zanesville. Range will go hot at 0900 on November 11th, RSOs must be there by 0800

One more thing.. All RSOs will carry a loaded sidearm at all times, no exceptions. Only weapons provided by Gun Envy will be used on the range for shooting. NO personal long guns permitted by anyone at any time

I wish this wasn't such a long drive. I'd love to help out with it. Been 12 years since I last handled a saw.

EERRRRRR......

I asked my wife if there was anything going on that day. She/WE are having a baby shower, and my attendance is required! I already did my part for the baby, it's all on her now!

I would have been glad to drive down and lend a hand. Maybe I can convince her that a machine gun shoot is way more important than getting gifts for our first born. Maybe.

I was at Rayner's about three weeks ago and there was a bridge out that everyone going should be aware of. I forget the reroute or I would post it. They had a small sign posted on the road you need to turn on.

I think I would be a good candidate for this work but my schedule will not allow it.
I will hope to be able to jump on for help with a future event.
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

I have received several responses by PM and I am currently going through those on a first come first serve basis, and balancing against our current needs.

I was told of a couple of people who have stopped in or called the store to inquire. I had surgery at the beginning of the month, and I am not in the shop currently. This is the reason that I asked to be sent a PM on here. If you are interested I must have a PM from you so I can track that. Stopping by or calling the store will likely result in being overlooked. We absolutely love to see any of you in the store, but I must have a PM for the purpose of volunteer help. The guys at the store will just direct you to me anyhow. My sleep schedule, etc is pretty messed up due to some of the medications I have to take, so this is the easiest way for me to be able at least have a base line conversation about it, then figure out a time to actually speak with you.

I'm down right now, but definitely not out, and doing what I can from home. Thanks

The bridge must be fixed as I just shot there on Sunday with no detours.

I sent you a PM, F.C. I can help on the 11th if needed.
You can't shoot a big enough gun to miss 'em dead.
