The best $100 I've spent on Marksmanship training

Post by JU-87 »

Hi all
This may sound funny because I love the AR-15 (I own more than one), Ruger 10/22,The Appleseed Project, and have begun Service Rifle compitition. The BEST $100 I've spent lately has been on this former US Army ROTC owned air rifle.

I live about 1 hour away from Camp Perry, so I drove there and "hand picked" this one, and saved postage. I put the CMP sticker(99 cents) on the stock myself.
Target rear sight (the CMP supplies a brand new one), globe front sight, new seals, sling. Fires .177 cal pellets only,510fps.
Using this WILL make you a better Rifle Marksman. The fundimentals are the same. Shoot it in your back yard even if you live in the city, and/or basement.

I'm told it does "good work" on feral cats, although I don't know for sure as I don't see anymore since I bought this...

Daisy M853 .177 Cal. (Pneumatic) USED Air Rifle
•Used Daisy 853 with seals replaced and Chronographed to meet factory velocity requirements.
$100 S&H $14.95 per rifle
CMP will notify additional S&H charges for AK and HI residents on each Daisy Rifle ordered.

I like what I see there... however:
Sales are limited to individuals and programs whose primary intention is to develop new shooters with these rifles. Click here to download an order form.

The CMP is selling reconditioned Daisy 853 Sporter Air Rifles to promote the development of more new junior shooters. This program can be especially important to new junior programs and summer camps that are seeking to acquire target air rifles suitable for marksmanship at an affordable price. For more information, or to find out if your program is eligible to purchase rifles through this promotional program, please contact Tommy Whitten, [email protected] or 419-635-2141 ext. 1113.
Maybe they don't enforce that when you actually travel to the CMP. Wonder if they would if you tried to buy one over the phone?
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

I would call or email them. I am not a "coach", and I had no trouble, other than choosing between about 20 rifles in the racks. :)

Guy down here was recently sentenced to jail time for killing a neighbor's cat.

My neighbor lets his cats run free. I'd like to "take care of them", but I am not risking an arrest.

FWIW, many Ohio towns/cities have local ordinances banning shooting BB guns and pellet rifles. People should check their local ordinances first, when appropriate.
