Post by Jake »

The 9th Annual Lowell Iden Memorial Trap Shoot and Breakfast is being held on Saturday, Aug. 4th at the Salem Hunting Club (549 Indiana Ave. Salem, OH 44460)

Starting with an All you can eat breakfast served from 7-11am, the public is welcome to participate in trap shooting as well as raffles for numerous gift baskets that contained donated items from local merchants and a 50/50 raffle. Lunch will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the day are donated to help sustain scholarships that are awarded each year to selected recipients who have chosen a major course of study in a field related in some way to Conservation. This year's recipients were Lindsay Iler (Salem), Sarah Anderson (Hanoverton) and Kayla Coldsnow (Beloit).

Tickets are available in advance or at the Salem Hunting Club the day of the event.

All the cool stuff is at the wrong end of the state. I love shooting trap but haven't seen anywhere down here that really does it that often.

How about Milford Gun Club along Round Bottom Road near Newtown? http://www.milfordgunclub.com/index.htm

Or perhaps the Indian Hill gun club. http://www.ci.indian-hill.oh.us/departm ... g-club.htm

MGC doesn't ever post their events so I'm not sure if they have any. As for joining, OUCH....$258 a year and then $3.50 for each round of shooting. I have a range and can buy a super nice thrower for that price.

Indian Hill can't join there as their list has like a thousand member wait or something outrageous. Again, outrageous membership fees and they don't post any competitions online.

I have a range to shoot at for practice, I'm looking for some competition with shotgun. Looks like Fairfield has some, granted the other side of the city but they have a good variety and don't appear to require membership. Thanks jabeatty.

Milford runs on Wednesdays and weekends generally speaking. They also shoot on a few holidays. I know a couple members but yeah at their prices I'm not keen on joining, been able to shoot as a guest the couple of times I wanted to.

I know very little of Indian Hill other than they exist, about the same with Eastern Hills.

You know what I would love....ONE, not twenty, but ONE website that has all shooting ranges in Ohio and what they have at each with links to all their websites for info and divided by county.

Hmmm, maybe if I can figure out how to do it I'll give it a shot. I can do basic HTML and make it look fancy, but Java and all the fancy stuff (like a map of Ohio with clickable counties) not so sure on.

It was the membership fees at Milford that I was referring to as spendy, Jake. Down here $250 a year (plus an initiation fee your first year I believe) is a little pricy for a club that has no other shooting besides trap and skeet.

I agree, that's steep.

Our membership fee's are incredibly reasonable IMO.

1st year membership = $25.00 initiation fee and a $50 annual fee.
10 work hours/year.

We offer a lot of activities, which are actually open to the public.
Advantage of membership is having open range privileges, which are available to the public.

*I always think of Ron White when I say "Public".
"But Officer, I was thrown into public..."

Any worked hours not completed are charged @ $7.50 each.
Plenty of ways to earn work hours, including attending monthly membership meetings which gets you 1/2 hour/meeting.
Attend 12 meetings in a year and your over half the required hours.
