The forums have been hosted for some time now out of my pocket. We are coming up on the annual domain renewal for ohioccwforums.org and I pay roughly $20/month to keep the forums online. I do this to maintain the long-standing history of discussions here indexed in Google, and so that people have a place to discuss this topic outside of modern social media censorship. If you enjoy the forums and you'd like to help offset the cost, please consider a venmo donation here
This forum is for discussion of general issues regarding Concealed Carry in your everyday life. This forum is not intended to be political or for discussing legislation.
I have to submit one for my renewal. I'll be doing the same as when I originally applied five years ago - take a picture here at the house, print it on photo paper and attach it. I've never quite figured out the purpose, since they turn around and take one at the SO. Oh well.
Total repeal of ALL firearms/weapons laws at the local, state and federal levels. Period. Wipe the slate clean.

That is the confusing part.

Clermont doesn't require one on renewal..Just the cash and the application.

Most likely this is only if your original was issued from their county. As they would already have one on file.

If you visit their web page there is no mention of needing one if renewing in Clermont but original from another county.
I think NC is being subjected to hoops to jump though beyond what is in the ORC.

The very nice lady in Hamilton County Sheriff's Office told me that they attach the photo you bring in with you to your background check paper work. Then, if you pass the background check, they take their own digital photo for your CHL.

Renewals are what we are talking about and even first time apps the actual license photo is taken when you apply not when you pass. Hamilton county if they are proffering this is full of it.
It's very clear to me that CHL law and procedure is a mishmash of what ever the sheriffs want it to be.
Dunno? I guess I'm just a newbie. The lady was real friendly and seemed like she enjoyed talking to people. In part of our conversation, I asked why the need for bringing a picture if they were going to take one anyway... and then she told me what I posted above.

Hoops? Maybe. 'Tis Clinton County though, and they're pretty easy to get along with. Five years ago I had just moved back to Ohio - the Major that administers the program told me that since I'd only been back in state for a very short time it would probably take longer than normal. OK, sez I, I've got my FL, it's all good. If I recall that was on a Tuesday. The following Monday they called for me to pick it up. So if that was "longer than normal" I'll jump through their little hoop on the picture.

When I first applied for my license I wasn't clear on the photo thing. I thought one of the pictures I brought was for my file and the other was for the license itself. So I got cleaned up, you know nice collard shirt ran a comb through my mop and went and had a overpriced passport photo done at a photo place. Anyway when I applied I had just got off work so I was greasy, dirty and had hat hair basically looked like a bum then I find out that Greene County has their own camera for the ID. Long story short my license photo looks like a bad mugshot.
On a side note its time for my renewal (well past time). My question is if my license is 2 months expired what do I have to do to renew it. I don't think I have to do anything different (other then cleaning up BEFORE going to the sheriff's office) but just want a second opinion.
