"Restaurant" has a much more restrictive definition than "Food service establishment" in the ORC.color of law wrote:"Restaurant" lets just use the term "restaurant" - no more using the term bar, saloon or drinking establishment.
Don't rock the boat, PLEASE!!!
ORC 4301.01
(12) “Restaurant” means a place located in a permanent building provided with space and accommodations wherein, in consideration of the payment of money, hot meals are habitually prepared, sold, and served at noon and evening, as the principal business of the place. “Restaurant” does not include pharmacies, confectionery stores, lunch stands, night clubs, and filling stations.
ORC 3717.01
(B) “Food” means any raw, cooked, or processed edible substance used or intended for use in whole or in part for human consumption. “Food” includes ice, water or any other beverage, food ingredients, and chewing gum.
(C) “Retail food establishment” means a premises or part of a premises where food is stored, processed, prepared, manufactured, or otherwise held or handled for retail sale. Except when expressly provided otherwise, “retail food establishment” includes a mobile retail food establishment, seasonal retail food establishment, and temporary retail food establishment.

Nothing! Of course in VA, if you want to carry in a liquor serving establishment, you have to OC!AlanM wrote:Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a non-LEO can carry either concealed or open as long as they have a CHL that is valid in Ohio. What's wrong with this picture??
Yes, I do believe in open carry. An openly armed man is clear in his intentions. Concealed carriers are sneaks and skulkers and elitist, boot licking, political contribution making, running dog lackies of The Man. <wink> (thx grumpycoconut - OpenCarry.org)

Re: Bill to remove ban on self-defense while dining drafted
First I would like to commend OFCC for working in the right direction. The draft is a long way from becoming law, (I believe) But after those 2 Cleveland Clinic researchers were gunned down in the Theater District a couple of weeks ago coming out of a restaurant / bar. I would be tempted to carry anyway, worrying about whether or not I would make it to my locked compartment. I went to dinner at Nauti Mermaid (W6th + St Clair St.),last night, (3-11) and made a plan with my wife, that if something bad happened,, "We left my wallet in the glove box of our car". At least it might buy us some time. I too hope this becomes law, I don't need to drink while having dinner. If it means being safe and keeping my family and friends safe, I'd be more than happy to be the Designated Driver.

Despite the above mentioned reference to the ORC's specific definition of "restaurant", I see your point. Our side of this issue needs to dictate the language of any debate. Much like we need to control the language of the debate over "standard capacity" magazines.
“He took down from the shelf a bottle of colourless liquid with a plain white label marked VICTORY GIN. It gave off a sickly, oily smell, as of Chinese rice-spirit. Winston poured out nearly a teacupful, nerved himself for a shock, and gulped it down like a dose of medicine. Instantly his face turned scarlet and the water ran out of his eyes. The stuff was like nitric acid, and moreover, in swallowing it one had the sensation of being hit on the back of the head with a rubber club.”

That was my point. I must stand corrected by AlanM and defer to the term “Retail food establishment.”logos wrote:color of law wrote:"Restaurant" lets just use the term "restaurant" - no more using the term bar, saloon or drinking establishment.

Good job, I'm getting tired of looking at Big Macs and Subway
