Columbus highway shooting on 3/21

Post by DWCol »

I heard on the radio on my way to work this morning that they had I-270 shut down near Easton due to a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting at around 2:30am. Haven't seen any news outlets picking up on it yet, and obviously don't have any more details.

Interstate Reopens After Double Shooting

Wednesday, Mar 21, 2007 - 08:25 AM

COLUMBUS -- A portion of Interstate 270 was closed early Wednesday morning after a shooting left two people wounded.

The incident occurred on I-270 near Easton on the city's northeast side, NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported.

Authorities said two men in two different cars were shot by another man who pulled alongside their vehicles at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

It is the city's third shooting involving cars in the past three days, Bowersock reported.

What does that have to do with anything? Maybe the Dispatch wants to ban cars now.

The following made my day.
The couple have lived on the street for 24 years and still like the neighborhood, despite the occasional crackle of gunfire.

"We've had a couple of strays (bullets) come into the house before," he said. "We get a lot of helicopters in the sky."

But "it's basically a nice neighborhood, and it's pretty convenient to where we want to go," he said. "We just need to do something about people and these guns."
Lol. What can you even say in response?

I was working in Dayton last week pretty late at a house. I heard some gunshots down the street while I was loading the truck, and so I ducked back in the house along with the home owner. He said it's not that rare to hear shots, but he still likes the neighborhood. I think I'd want to move. I hear gunshots almost daily here at home, but its just people hunting or taget shooting.
When firearms go, all goes. We need them every hour.

That's where my dad lives. You hear:

1. Gunfire. "It's not on our street."
2. Car break-ins. "Just don't park on the street."
3. Muggings. "Best to be in before dark."
4. Robberies. "We just got an iron core door after the last one."

Followed by, "We live in a good neighborhood."

As opposed to, "Maybe we should move..."

They wonder why I left.
