Bipartisan Safer Communities Act

Post by Bruenor »

mandatory 3 day waiting period under 21 and the "boyfriend loophole" has a 5 year expiration date. Delayed 4473 also now is 10 days not the 3 days with a sunset of 10 years. Expansion of background checks to include state and local authorities and state mental health care records custodian for potential transfers to people under 21 (Sunsets in 2032).

redefines "engaged in the business" , access to importers, manufacturers, FFL's to NCIC Stolen Firearms DB.

Some other stuff. .

Sounds good. We compromised. What do we get in return? I want my supressors for the Hearing Protection Act.

Just keep this in mind the next time the NRA calls asking for donations:

NRA slams Senate's bipartisan gun control package saying it 'falls short at every level'

The NRA will support legislation that improves school security, promotes mental health services, and helps reduce violent crime. However, we will oppose this gun control legislation because it falls short at every level. It does little to truly address violent crime while opening the door to unnecessary burdens on the exercise of Second Amendment freedom by law-abiding gun owners," the NRA said in a statement Tuesday.
So they're getting what they wanted but they wanted even more... are they now coming out against it because it didn't do enough or because us 'rubes' are upset?

In a slide presentation Sen. John Cornyn delivered to Senate Republicans at lunch on Wednesday, the Texas Republican went through areas where the NRA got want it wanted, per source — even though the pro-gun lobby is opposed to the bipartisan deal he cut
Just remember that 9 out of 11 highest NRA funded Senators voted for gun control for "Bi-partisanship", but what do we get? The NRA got what they wanted.

The Feds got rid of 80% of firearms dealers but now want to classify a bunch of people as firearms dealers. They need to make up their mind.

What am I missing here? That clause is applicable to straw purchases and gun trafficking and they can forfeit money made and firearms/ammo used.
