Sound suppressors are not evil nor are they extra deadly. In fact firearm suppressors, sometimes incorrectly referred to as "silencers", are almost never used in crime. With over 1.3 million sound suppression devices legally owned in the United States, on average only 40 crimes per year are committed with these devices.
Reading that it makes it sound like the 40 crimes a year are commited with the legally owned suppressors, instead of the millions of illegally owned suppressors. Is the 40 per year actually correct for legally owned suppressors? The incident recently was the first I've heard of involving a supposedly legally owned suppressor in ages.

Suppressor technology isn't rocket surgery.
Any simple machinist can accomplish the same.
It's the original 3d printed gun debate.
Absurd that they're still considered illegal, and that we have to make any political effort to keep them legally infringed.

They are a target again. And Menendez got cute and called it the HEAR act.
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) introduced legislation on Wednesday to ban the sale and possession of firearm suppressors.

His legislation, the Help Empower Americans to Respond (HEAR) Act
"Gun silencers are dangerous devices with one purpose and one purpose only – to muffle the sound of gunfire from unsuspecting victims."

I encourage you to look at HB62 starting at line 146
(E) It shall be the duty of the courts and law enforcement agencies of this state to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms within the borders of this state and to protect these rights from the infringements defined under this section.

(F) No person, including any public officer or employee of this state or any political subdivision of this state, shall have the authority to enforce or attempt to enforce any federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, regulations, statutes, or ordinances infringing on the right to keep and bear arms as described under this section.
170 starts a lovely nugget, also.
