This alleged news is probably being used (or misused) by anti gun advocates in the US but when I read the article it doesn't really mention much that hasn't already been done in the past by the Swiss.
Switzerland's public broadcaster says preliminary estimates show a solid majority nationwide has voted to align with a European Union directive on firearms adopted in 2017.

The Swiss proposal would, among other things, require regular training on the use of firearms, special waivers for possession of some semi-automatic weapons and serial-numbering of major parts of some guns to help track them.
Regular training and special waivers for possession of some semi auto weapons? Since allegedly every male over 18 is part of the reserve (and any female who volunteers) isn't that mostly covered already?
