https://www.apnews.com/bda97817dabf492e9be8099bdd1a4cd6The National Rifle Association is used to battling forces that criticize its fiery and unbending efforts to protect gun rights. But as the group gathers for its annual convention this week, the NRA may be facing its toughest foe in decades: its own members.
NRA insiders and longtime observers describe an organization at war with itself over a central question: Has it strayed too far from its original mission of gun safety and outdoor shooting sports and become too political?

NRA beset by infighting over whether it has strayed too far
I've seen various complaints on gun forums over the years that the NRA should stick to 2A issues and not get involved in other political issues.

Re: NRA beset by infighting over whether it has strayed too
There has always been a movement to pull the NRA out of politics, to go back to the Fudd days of trap shooting, safety classes and no 2A politics. Of course, that is how we got GCA 1968 and then the old guard being kicked out of NRA leadership.
To them, I say:
Really, pretty much every Dem running for office today wants to force more gun control on the US, and it is a good idea to neutralize the NRAs political efforts? Grow a pair, Mr Fudd, and realize its not just those younger, diverse folks with scary black rifles that will lose. You will too, as will freedom since the 2A protects all the other rights.

Re: NRA beset by infighting over whether it has strayed too
I believe NRA-ILA was pretty much the brainchild of the late Neal Knox and other "hardliners" who saw what was being pushed behind closed doors.
Had it not been for them, we would not have much of the 2A left.
I do have a problem with the NRA leadership playing footsie with politicians who only give us sound bites and hollow campaign rhetoric, while lining their pockets with our hard earned dues.
Hopefully, someone leads another Cincinnati revolt this weekend, and the board of directors actually does something other than rubber stamp Wayne's words.

Incidentally , there is such a politician speaking to that very same organization in a few hours.I do have a problem with the NRA leadership playing footsie with politicians who only give us sound bites and hollow campaign rhetoric, while lining their pockets with our hard earned dues.
I concur 200%Hopefully, someone leads another Cincinnati revolt this weekend, and the board of directors actually does something other than rubber stamp Wayne's words.

Re: NRA beset by infighting over whether it has strayed too
Well, you can’t blame spineless GOP politicians on the NRA. You can take the position that the bumpstock debacle was done by the NRA to avoid larger bans of semi-auto rifles by cowering GOP legislators after Vegas. I’m not sure if that is true or not, but certainly believable. And Trump certainly hasn’t been helpful to gun owners either.
There are certainly some big issues at the NRA right now. But the NRA dwarfs all the other gun groups, and has the pull in DC. I’d rather Wayne LaPierre takes home millions indecently than lose 2A rights.
And the NRA pulling away from lobbying would pretty much mean putting a fork in our 2A rights. You just know Bloomberg, who funds all the Anti-groups, is ramping up. You don’t get to be a tyrannical-leaning billionaire without knowing when to pounce on a weakened enemy.

Sounds like the bovine by-product is getting deep.
There may be way more to this than we realize, or it is outside forces trying to de-stabilize the NRA at a critical point ?

Frenchie apparently declined to resign and this marketing firm is threatening to make an internal letter public...
North & AM v Frenchie!
Here's hoping that GOA or FPC steps up and fills the void left by the NRA's well earned and long overdue implosion.
A video explaining where the trouble is brewing, prior to this recent development

It was Oliver vs Wayne and Wayne won so far.
https://www.theblaze.com/news/breaking- ... nds-mondayAt the NRA Annual Meeting, a letter from organization president Oliver North was read aloud before the gathered members and leadership in which he cited a "clear crisis" at the organization and stated that he has been "informed" that he will not be receiving the board's endorsement for a second term.

Moar Frenchie winning...
Executive Vice President/CEO Wayne LaPierre was re-elected unanimously and unopposed by the NRA Board of Directors at their meeting in Indianapolis, Ind., April 29, 2019.
Carolyn Meadows was elected NRA President; Charles L. Cotton, First Vice President; and Willes Lee, Second Vice President.
Also retaining their offices are NRA Secretary/General Counsel John Frazer; and Craig Spray, Treasurer.
Chris W. Cox was re-appointed as Executive Director for the Institute for Legislative Action; and Joseph De Bergalis, Jr., Executive Director, General Operations.
All NRA officers were elected unanimously and unopposed.

This is some straight up 3rd World dictatorship “election” crap right here. Just 2 days ago a group of board members, and the then President Col. North, demanded Wayne’s resignation for gross mismanagement and corruption to the point the organization now faces forced dissolution (aka put out of business) and even losing their nonprofit status, yet somehow 2 days later a vote takes place and the same crooks that have been bleeding the organization dry while selling our rights out get “unanimously” re-elected. Its almost comical if it weren’t so disgusting. The NRA is about to completely collapse and countless NRA members who stay willfully ignorant continue to lap up the Ack-Mac propaganda and support the rampant corruption. You’re going to lose the NRA forever if you don’t wake up and start fighting for change.
