GOP Sen Cornyn taking Fix NICS victory lap

Post by bignflnut »

Tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of President Trump signing the Fix NICS Act, led in the House by U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28) and former U.S. Rep. John Culberson (R-TX), into law:

Four days later, I introduced the Fix NICS Act. This law strengthened the background check system to better prevent criminals from obtaining firearms, as was the case in Sutherland Springs. What started as one step toward addressing the holes in the background check system became a big step toward preventing another tragedy.

I believe this law will save lives.

The Fix NICS Act earned bipartisan support with 77 Republican and Democrat Senators cosponsoring the bill. Editorial Boards across the country from the Wall Street Journal to the Dallas Morning News called on Congress to pass the bill.

It was also supported by a diverse range of victims’ rights groups, law enforcement officers, gun violence prevention groups, and prosecutors including the National Rifle Association, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Fraternal Order of Police, and National Shooting Sports Foundation.

On March 23, 2018, the Fix NICS Act was signed into law by President Trump.
Yet another wild infringement upon our RKBA brought on by the GOP.

If we have a NICS process, it should at least be accurate and reliable.

In the Texas case, as with others, if the various government agencies had done their job correctly, the perps would have been denied .
I find it amazing that these agencies can shirk responsibility for their acts, but a FFL can be crucified for making the sale when it was "proceeded" by the FBI.
