Hearing Protection Act Introduced in the Senate

Post by bignflnut »

You remember the HPA, removing silencers but retaining the rest of the 1934 idiocy in the NFA. The pro-RKBA people and orgs had it on the short list of agenda items after the 2016 elections. You know, HoR in GOP hands, Senate and POTUS in GOP hands...go time!

Nah, let's introduce it after the 2018 elections when it has next to no chance of passing, because the HoR is run by Nancy.
But, but, Vote GOP in 2020 because we have all these great agenda items that the Dems stand in the way of...
Idaho Senator Mike Crapo along with 12 Senate colleagues, including Idaho Senator Jim Risch, today introduced the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) in the Senate. The HPA, S. 817, would reclassify suppressors to regulate them like a regular firearm. Co-sponsors include Senators John Cornyn (TX), Bill Cassidy (LA), John Boozman (AR), Mike Rounds (SD), Thom Tillis (NC), Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS), Deb Fischer (NE), Jerry Moran (KS), Dan Sullivan (AK), Joni Ernst (IA), and Jim Inhofe (OK).

This bill has about the same chance of becoming law as a snow cone not melting on a Miami sidewalk. Pure political theatre for some fundraising and allow politicians to have a talking point. "We introduced the HPA in the Senate, but it died in the democratically controlled House. Please donate today so we can elect republicans to once again control the House."

Never mind we did not enact it into law when we had a trifecta. We instead farted around until the optics of passing it became too toxic after Las Vegas.

Virtue signalling RINOs, too bad the GOP hated Trump in the early days because they could have gotten this one done.
