Sherrod Brown (D/NRA F) v Jim Renacci (R/ NRA A) losing

Is there anything we can do to change this equation? It saddens me to think we will lose this opportunity to switch a seat. The PD says most polls have Renacci down by 10 points and he is being outraised by 10 to 1.

Just speaking for myself, I don't know that anything will make a difference. I had never heard of Renacci till he was running for the office. I think it just boils down to name recognition. Plus the negative ads about him. I'll vote for him just because he is the Republican candidate. Brown is just too well known.

There was a time when just having "Brown" as a last name was a serious plus....

IMHO, the attack ads against Renacci have been silly, but they're aiming for the unlettered. Defense lawyers don't necessarily support the offenses. They're there to see that the defendant gets his due process. The money may be pretty good, too.

Regards,

Warren County Republican headquarters is running phone banks every week. Thursdays are 'Renacci Nights' I think. Find your local phone bank, door knockers etc or check with the NRA-ILA as they are doing them also.

The ads here have trumpeted his (Renacci's) ownership in nursing homes, and voting against legislation to regulate the same.

The money may be pretty good in high level crime, but low level is another matter.

I've seen a lot of pro Brown ads, and a lot of anti Renacci ads, but absolutely no pro Renacci or anti Brown ads on TV. Did the Republican party basically just write off Renacci's chances?

I was over at a relatives house last week, and an anti Jim Renacci ad was on TV. It was paid for by some PAC I mentioned how I hate negative political ads, and she agreed, she hates them too, said some negative ad against someone was on tv all the time. She made the comment that "that ad on right now, I don't even know who this guy is or what he's running for anyway."

The ads regarding opposing additional nurses training are extremely misleading, and the ANA's socialistic proposals would just increase an already existing nursing shortage, potentially putting millions of LPN's and RN's out of work. It's so far left the ANA can't even get their wish list passed in states with total Democratic control, because even the Democratic politicians there know how unworkable it is.

I get the ANA’s emails. Every politician they endorsed is democrat. No surprise.

I don’t read the majority of what they send. Now I’m going to have to find their proposal. Not doubting the socialist nature of the proposal one bit.

Unless they've changed their tune recently, they used to argue for the RN standard to be a Bachelors degree nationwide, and a Master degree mandatory for anything above staff nurse. Also an increase in LPN requirements. Also a low number of nurse to patient ratio, elimination or reduction of doctors using medical assistants in place of RN's, etc. This is as far back as 94, 95, etc. They were one of the biggest backers of Obamacare.

This surfaced today in https://www.cincinnati.com - Sherrod Brown accused of 'unwanted' advance against woman in '80s. Ironic Brown is being "Kavanaughed", yet where are the hollyweird actresses and #me too crowd now? Don't we have to believe all accusers? If there is an accuser he must guilty.

Here is a good breakdown of the money involved in the race.

https://www.whio.com/news/state--region ... 6jVjp1K4I/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When Sherrod Brown ran for re-election in 2012, he had a constant refrain: outside groups were out to get him.

This year, though, outside groups are either on his side or sitting out the race.

Outside groups are organizations that don’t necessarily contribute directly to the campaigns, but instead spend money on TV ads and direct mail backing or opposing candidates. In the current funding cycle, such groups have spent more than $4.2 million supporting Brown, compared to $501,364 spent to defeat him, according to a tally by the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign spending.

Among the groups supporting Brown are the Communications Workers of America, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Planned Parenthood and the National Association of Realtors.

By comparison, the silence around Republican Rep. Jim Renacci, R-Wadsworth, has been relatively deafening: Outside groups have spent $1,824 supporting Renacci and $53,684 against him, according to the center.

Those backing Renacci — largely by opposing Brown — include #MeTooOhio, a group created to highlight Brown’s 1986 divorce and the National Rifle Association.

The NRA, however, has invested just $13,612 into the race compared to the $526,485 the group spent in 2012.

The Brown campaign used the NRA money as a fundraising vehicle, saying in an email: as an example of outside groups attempting to block his re-election. In a fundraising email: “The NRA Political Victory Fund is spending money to boost multi-millionaire Congressman Jim Renacci and defeat Sherrod. If we don’t raise $10,000 before tomorrow night, we could be forced to take our ads off the air.”

“Special interests, the Brown campaign said, “are pulling out all the stops to make sure Sherrod loses his job.”

But the special interests actually appear to favor Brown this time around.

The largest amount of outside spending on his behalf has come from the National Association of Realtors, which spent $3.3 million supporting Brown; and the New American Jobs Fund, a coalition of the United Steel Workers and the League of Conservation Voters, which spent $745,536.

The National Association of Realtors, which has spent nearly $4.3 million backing Democrats and nearly $8.3 million backing Republicans this cycle, aired an ad backing Brown that lauded him for “making housing more affordable and accessible.”
Probably with tax money somehow.
Brown is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee.
