I believe this battle for survival of the electoral process is sucking up all the oxygen and energy in the swamp.
Backing this assertion up with data (reminding people of all the Senate RINOs that were and are...)
Despite Republicans having unified control of all three political levers — the White House, House and Senate — President Trump and Congress notched the second-worst start to any newly elected administration in modern political history, according to The Washington Times Legislative Activity Index.

Congress wrote fewer laws, held fewer formal House-Senate negotiations, and was near the bottom on several key yardsticks in the Senate — a reflection of Democrats’ ability to flex their filibuster powers to delay Mr. Trump.

Records date back to just after World War II, and in those 72 years, the only President George W. Bush had a worse legislative start — and he faced a Democratic majority in the Senate for most of the first Congress.

SNIP

The Index ranks each chamber’s totals, then combines those rankings for a score. The lower the score, the less activity a Congress had.

Mr. Trump’s first Congress notched an activity score of 202, better than Mr. Bush’s 174 — when he faced a Democrat-controlled Senate for most of 2001 and all of 2002. But Mr. Trump was worse than President Barack Obama (score: 242), President Bill Clinton (score: 223), President George H.W. Bush (score: 264) and every other president’s first Congress dating back to Eisenhower.

When all Congresses — not just a president’s first one — are included, the 115th Congress ranked 31st out of 36.

The last Congress was particularly poor at writing bills that got signed into law, with just 335.
It will be interesting to see how the bravado and bluster plays in future campaigns, now that an actual record is available.

Bemoaning how she has nobody to share her disappointment with, Coulter said: "It’s frustrating... I can’t talk to Trump detractors because, as the subtitle to my last book indicated, they’re insane. I can’t talk to the Trump flatterers because they think as soon as it comes out of his mouth, it has happened. No, he’s an excellent talker. It’s just when it comes to doing anything that he falls down on the job."

SNIP

Segueing to an attack on the media, Coulter said: "Trump may be a shallow, narcissistic conman, but that doesn’t mean the media are not the enemy of the people. Both things can be true," adding that perhaps one positive outcome of Trump's presidency might be the "total destruction of the lying media."

Americans have lost more gun-related property & had more anti-2A legislation enacted under @realDonaldTrump in 1/2 term than under two full terms of @BarackObama. AND more Trump-supported #guncontrol is working through Congress now. American gun owners have gained NOTHING. #MAGA

I plan on going at least ceremoniously. I will ask directions to the N Pelosi-DNC booth. I KNOW it's there. It HAS to be :P .

The only thing to finish with plans for the day, quickest route to nearest Chik-Fil-A. I've got several weeks yet.
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil

Gun control is another major issue with broad public support for a commonsense moderate stance that the Republican Party chooses to ignore. It can stake out a position whereby it supports fundamental Second Amendment rights but also acknowledges there are steps that can be taken to address the horrific mass shootings that have occurred on a near regular basis. This could include an assault weapons ban, longer waiting periods, and raising the age at which firearms may be purchased. When Senator Rick Scott served as the governor of Florida, he signed into law new gun limits that implemented many of these restrictions. How amazing would it be for the national Republican Party to follow his lead and prove that it can stand up to the National Rifle Association?

A Republican who espouses limited government, a strong national defense, support of law enforcement, and sensible regulation of the financial sector, yet embraces moderate and forward thinking policy positions on immigration, gun control, and race relations can win across 50 states. If the Republican Party has any chance of broadening its base, it must embrace more mainstream stances on a wide variety of issues. Otherwise, it will continue to lose voters and remain on the path of electoral decline. The patience moderates have had with a Republican Party that continuously rejects moderation will eventually run out.
Aren't we glad that there won't be a GOP candidate running on this platform in 2020, due to the leadership POTUS has shown (right along with the NRA)...?

While the 2020 campaign rallies spin up...remember that Trump could gun you down in the streets and not lose any votes...of course he's busy, so he'll send #HEROES/goons...but he's not a Democrat!

Doesn't the record show that Obama has done far more FOR gun owners and carriers than Donald Trumpet? Hasn't Trump done FAR more against gun owners and carriers than Obama? I am thinking the only plus we have received is a stronger hold in the Supreme Court provided neither turns fickle.

US President Donald Trump has announced his administration will stop ratification of the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and withdraw from it, calling it “badly misguided” and a threat to American freedoms.

The UN will soon receive “formal notice that America is rejecting this treaty,” Trump said on Friday, speaking at the National Rifle Association (NRA) convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“I will sign right now, in front of a lot of witnesses, a message asking the Senate to discontinue the treaty ratification process, and to return the now-rejected treaty to me, to the Oval Office, where I will dispose of it.”

As he closed, and read his empty promises of adoration from the prompter, the same ones he's always used, you can see on his face that the love is gone...that he knows it...
