Anyone purchase from Amazon? Support the NRA

Post by BobK »

The AmazonSmile program will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases (however those are determined) to three different NRA related entities. (NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund, NRA Foundation, and NRA Freedom Action Foundation).

Since last fall, all of my Amazon purchases have supported the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund.

Here's a link for more information: http://smile.amazon.com/about" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Be careful or you'll select the American Red Cross; do a search for NRA. Also, update your browser link to "smile.amazon.com" instead of just "amazon.com" for your purchases to be properly credited.

What he said. Probably 95% of stuff I buy comes from Amazon. I was completely unaware of this program. :|

Anyone know if GOA, SAF, or even OFCC could get into this program?

SAF is in the list.

There is a tax difference between donating to a non-profit, versus donating to a tax deductible charity. For example, the NRA or the NRA-ILA are non-profits, but donations are not tax deductible. However, the NRA Foundation or the NRA Civil Defense fund are registered charities and donations are tax deductible.

Since Amazon will obviously want to deduct these business expenses, I assume other organizations like GOA or OFCC would require a tax-deductible charitable affiliated entity.

I believe the Buckeye Firearms Foundation would likely qualify.

Project Appleseed (http://www.appleseedinfo.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) is also on the list. Look for their parent organization... Revolutionary War Veterans Association.

Edit to add link for more info... http://www.appleseedinfo.org/amazon-smile.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Learn how Project Appleseed is supporting freedom through Marksmanship and Heritage clinics.
