Reliable Gunsmith in Cuyahoga County?
Nothing major.
The screw holding the Picatinny rail in the dovetails on my new shotgun sheered under recoil.
If I'm not able to remove it with the broken screw remover I've got coming Thursday, I'll need somebody to remove and replace it with a higher quality component.
I haven't had any sort of gunsmithing done in 15-20 years, so I have no idea whom I can trust.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Two sets of screw removers were a bust, so I'm still looking for a reliable gunsmith the Cuyahoga/Lorain/Summit County area to remove the screw, and probably replace the polymer rail.

I was hoping somebody could recommend a smith with whom they've had recent experience.

only gunsmith I work with is in Lake county / Fairport harbor area. They are pretty busy, so everything is a wait (Although the website does say they can do some things while you wait.) Been happy with all the work they've done for me

*new* shotgun probably under warranty? Take it back and exchange it or have dealer send it back for this repair.

Had to modify the magazine tube to add the extension, a common issue with these types of guns. Probably voids the warranty. I just need a busted screw removed, and maybe the hole retapped.weakhand luke wrote:*new* shotgun probably under warranty? Take it back and exchange it or have dealer send it back for this repair.

The Leapers dovetail to to Picatinny rail I ordered came yesterday while I was at the range.
Once I got around the Chinese instructions, I went on pretty easily and seems solid with the optic on it.
I'm going to test the rail next Sunday, and assuming that it works out, I'll put getting the screw removed on the back burner.

I haven't found anyone in Cuyahoga county I trust to this point. When I need work I go to Viktor's Legacy Custom Gunsmithing (1180 High St, #4, Fairport Harbor, OH).
It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it. I've had them do lever gun work and some 1911 work.

Hopefully the Leapers rail will obviate the need to get the screw out in the near term. I suspect that the same type of mounting would eventually just fail again, as opposed to the Leapers rail which clamps on in multiple locations.

I’ve had this gunsmith (John?) work on 1911s, Glocks, Sig P-series, and a Tavor. Never an issue. He trained in Arizona in the 80’s and appears to know what he’s doing. Good stories, too.
