Non-citizen defends his business with a "firearm"

Post by AlanM »

I just found this on Quora and just have to share it.
It's too long to quote so here's the link:https://qr.ae/TWyXS8

Synopsis: Some Pakistanis in Texas have a convenience store and stock up on cash on Thursdays to cash Friday paychecks for their customers.
A goblin notices the pattern and starts robbing them each Thursday.
The local police were of no help.
The owners tried to purchase a firearm and, of course, was refused.
They discovered that they could legally purchase a black powder pistol kit.

I'll let you read the rest as the author wrote it. He's description of the events of the fateful Thursday are worth it.

Must be a Texas thing that permanent legal residents can't purchase a firearm.

Or just an FFL who doesn't know Federal law regarding such purchases.

Hope the store's employees can acquire something a little more up to date to stop the next robbery. I'd imagine there are customers willing to do a lend-lease.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Cocked and pulled the trigger while pointing it in the general direction of the crook. The hammer fell, the percussion cap fired, with a puff of sparks and smoke, then a second or so later as the powder was ignited the gun fired. This filled the store full of smoke to the point that no one could see. The cops were immediately called and the doors propped open.

It's a nice story :) but from my admittedly limited experience with BP percussion firearms this part doesn't sound quite right, particularly for one shot.

I'd say that writer was using a little creative license with the details. It takes more than one shot to fill a decent size room with black powder smoke.

I took that description to be exaggerated due to adrenaline rush.
