The Telegraph (London) wrote:As we reveal today, the Church of England - for so long an energetic campaigner against the arms trade - has quietly forged a link with a leading British arms manufacturer. In 2002, the Archbishops' Council signed an agreement with a mobile telephone aerial company partly owned by QinetiQ. Under the agreement, parishes that wished to make money by placing masts on their steeples were encouraged to do business with QinetiQ's susidiary, Quintel S4.
The Church says parishes were given all the information they needed about QinetiQ, including the fact that the company was formed from the laboratories of the Ministry of Defence. Not included, curiously, was any information about guided munitions or electro-thermal chemical guns, areas in which QinetiQ claims to be "leaders in the field".

When your only tools are a hammer and sickle, every problem starts to look like too much freedom.
That is the paradox position of most European countries. The EU is a larger arms exporter than the US (2nd place behind Russia), but it does not seem to be anybody's concern as long as the firearms go elsewhere.
