OSU shooting teams stuff

Post by kcclark »

While selling Cub Scout popcorn with my son last Saturday, a gentleman wearing an OSU Rifle hat approached our stand. As an OSU Pistol team alumnus, I was very interested in where he had gotten the hat. Turned out that he had been on the OSU Pistol Team in the '70s and has/had a son on the OSU Rifle Team. He said he had gotten the hat at Conrads.

I stopped in Conrads yesterday. They had hats and t-shirts for both the pistol and rifle teams. The t-shirts ranged from S to 3X. I got 3 pistol hats and 3 shirts in assorted sizes. The hats were $10.95. Smaller shirts were $9.95 and I paid $13.95 for the 3X (which I was pleased to get since 3X shirts are rare these days).

Conrads is in Columbus on Lane Avenue, west of Neil Avenue, just north of the OSU campus.

I just checked out their website (http://www.conrads.com) to see if the stuff was online. The hats are there but no shirts. I also saw OSU auto decals for the teams. No clue if these are also at the store since I was not looking for them while I was there.

I suggest getting them while you can. The last time a t-shirt existed for the teams (it was a combined rifle/pistol shirt), it was the only OSU team shirt to be pulled off the market and OSU denied it ever existed until I was able to produce the OSU receipt which showed I had bought 5 of them.

Hi everyone! My name is Gina Cheliras and I am currently a member of The Ohio State Varsity Rifle Team. This post is great because not a lot of people outside of the gun community know that we even have a rifle team. So I think that everyone should wear OSU Rifle gear and help us get the word out that we have a great team! Also, I am very close to Conrads, in fact I practice right across the street Monday-Friday....so, if anyone needs rifle gear picked up and mailed I can do it! Just send me an email and I will get in touch with you! {Please do not post personal contact information in the open forum, please use the Private Message system-sabalo}
GO BUCKS!

This, from (pistol) Coach Sweeney about a week ago):

We wanted the shooting community to hear the great news!

The Buckeye Pistol Team outpointed the defending national champions US
Military Academy by a score of 6288 to 6276. The Black Knights won two
of the three events, but a strong showing in the free pistol event by
OSU's 2045 to the Academy's 2001 was enough to seal the victory. The
only individual 1st by the Buckeyes was by freshman Aaron Tourigny in
free pistol with a 519.
The Academy women won over the Lady Bucks 2681 to 2589.

Our next competition will be with Purdue University Saturday Oct 23,
2010.

Go Bucks!

I wasn't into guns when I was there, unfortunately.

Fisher, will you show some gratuitous Buckeye Bersa pictures please? Sure:

Company that was making the hats quit sometime back. Conrads has a new hat supplier but Pistol hats were not getting made for some reason. Got a call last week that Pistol team hats were finally in so I went got 2 of the new style. So, currently you can get hats, t-shirts, and license plate frames for both the rifle and pistol teams. Show your team spirit and dress accordingly. :D

Just found out that the OSU pistol team won the Intercollegiate Pistol Championship today. That makes two years in a row!!!

They had championship shirts made last year but I forgot to ever post that info here.

Conrads still stocked the team hats and shirts when I was there to get my football championship shirts this year. Pistol hats are one of the few sports they stock so we must be buying a few. :D

This is the article from today that talks about OSU leading the pack going into the last day of the competition:

I just did a search on Conrads for "pistol." It came up with three items: B7-9 T-shirt, B7-13a T-shirt, and A3-33a hat.

Back in the day, they also had window clings and license plate frames.
