Would it be possible to have a forum for only members? I know that the forums are open to the public for Q&A and promotion of Gun Rights, but a forum to discuss things that maybe the whole world don't need to see wouldn't be a bad thing (so long as we don't make it one)
It would probably not need to be moderated as much and shouldn't be used for any illegal activity and so on. But it would be good to be able to have heated discussions about certian thingd without everybody with a computer being able to see everything we say. I feet like we are at a disadvantage in certian situations because they are able to see all of our discussion about it.
How would it be determined who gets to play and who doesn't?

It wouldn't be hard for anyone to open an account, pay to be a member and still have not have our best intentions be their concern.

Private forum, IMO will NOT work.

I think it WOULD work, I'm quite sure you guys have a private moderator forum......right ?? It takes up to 6 weeks to become a member from what it just told me today when I coughed up my $25 to become an OFCC member via the web store.

Bill - it can take up to 6 weeks - but with the workload that has been generating, I am doing them just about weekly, so the turnaround is less than half that.

What if you needed to be a paying member and say 50 other meaningful posts before you could post or read the private forum?

And please understand, I am not complaining a bit.... merely pointing out that even a 3 week "safety valve" would have to have an undeniable effect.

Personally. I'm not convinced that someone hellbent on "infiltrating" would let a mere three weeks stand in their way.

If I want something bad enough, I'll wait as long as it takes to get what I want.

Yeah - I think we are pretty close to having this automated - perhaps that could be a catalyst.

..The people that wanted to do serious damage will pay it. $25.00 is nothing to a person bent on screwing things up..Entertainment to some that have no life....

I'm not talking about a Troll who wants to throw a banana peel on the floor just for laughs.

I'm referring to anti gun institutions that have $$ and time on there side.

Have we been having troubles with the latter?

If so, they've covered their tracks well (in public, at least).

Not implying that we currently are.

If any one wants to dig out some dirt to use for an anti stance, why potentially allow access to "Our Private Chambers".

Heck, there is plenty of material they can use right here, out in the open.

Kidding aside, I just don't see a value of having a Private Forum for OFCC Members.
I'm sure there will always be those who disagree, and my word is far from the "Voice of Finality".

I think there would be plenty value added. In situations like the one we had over the weekend the chief and his officers would not have been able to read all of the responses to the incident. We may still have a Chief on our side If it were moved by moderators to the Squirrel's Nest (i like that name, Don't you?) I believe it would also encourage people to actually join the .org rather than just get a forum account. That would mean more money for OFCC and the cause.

On a side note: I also think you should have to be a member to post items for sale or trade. Maybe not so much to buy but if you are going to use the site to make money by selling your goods you should at least be able to come up with $25. Maybe allow 1 free post with the idea that you would use $25 from the sale to get your membership.

And please do not make this thread about the closed thread, that was just the example I was thinking about.

2/17/2011 is my expiration date so it was around 2/17/2010. I expected that question and cannot fault you for asking it. I should have my Site Supporter Tag soon. I thought I sent the PM in February but apparently I didn't because It didn't show up in my sent items. I had to have clicked wrong somewhere in the process sending the PM to Daniel. I resent it the other night.
