I keep the non-emergency number to several police departments in my phone.

They would have gotten a call from me, I'm sure.

With any luck, the gentleman would have been one of our esteemed members of the Ohio General Assembly and the embarrassment of being stopped by law enforcement would have encouraged him to push a repeal of our zero-tolerance policy on drinking while concealing.

I have a feeling the best we could hope for in that scenario is a carve out exception for our OGA, just like for LEOs.

I agree 100%, but that's something beyond my control.

If you get an initiative on the ballot to forbid them from drinking while armed, I'll vote for it.

I'll actually agree with you on that one. If you drink and drive and get into an accident, it should by default be attempted murder if another person is injured or full blown murder if another person is killed. The person knew that drinking impairs judgement and motor skills yet they did it anyway, let them suffer the consequences of their actions. I couldn't care less if someone drinks and drives, until they actually cause harm. Punish the actions not the potentials.

I say the same thing regarding drugs. I couldn't care less what you put into your body. However, the first time you rob someone to support your habit or cause an injury or death of someone else, nail your hide to the wall as mentioned in previous paragraph.
Having been the victim of more than one drunk driver, I vehemently disagree. I sure wish some nosey people would have derailed the "potentials" of the drunks that hit me.
Maybe you are perfectly comfortable with some drunk spinning the chamber of "potentials" before placing the barrel to YOUR head. I most certainly am not.
One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that certain behaviors can easily escalate one's actions from potential to probable.

As to the OP: I'd be more interested in the sobriety level of the carrier. He starts getting stupid drunk, I could get real nosey real quick. I'd rather see him cuffed and stuffed instead of someone else ending up in the hospital or the morgue.

And that's the way I look at it, It's different being falling down sloppy drunk and having had a couple of drinks... If he was falling down drunk, I would call the cops to give them the vehicle description and license plate number.. Much less if he was armed in that condition.
"Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home
Let me die in a pile of empty brass."
Amen

Carmen,I don't mean to imply that you sanction infomers but... :|

Invoking Godwin... So did Adolf.

In 1930's Germany, the new socialist government of Adolf Hitler (NAZI National Socialist Workers' Party) began indoctrinating children in the quasi-military organization, the Hitler Youth, to inform on their parents should they overhear discussions subversive to the policies of the Leader... local community organizers were appointed to watch their neighbors and were told to report subversive comments to the bureaucrats above them. Neighbors informed on neighbors, some for reasons of patriotism or loyalty, some from fear...

The socialist governments of the Soviet Union, Fascist Italy, N. Korea, Cuba, Yugoslavia, and the People's Republic of China employed the same citizen informer techniques. Citizens of those societies were reduced to either silence or whispered discussion only among those they trusted the most. Of course none of those things would ever occur here in the land of the free. But wait...

Yeah, and you aren't painting with a broad brush there either are ya?

Frankly given the situation as described by the original poster, I find it extremely hard to believe that you would make that call to the police, and then stick around for their arrival to make sure officers are pointed at the right person. Who knows how long that might take? Or would you just make the call, ditch the joint, then let the cops figure out all on their own who they were supposed to be looking for?
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

It's often painful enough to read your posts the first go round Carmen. No way I'm going back for a review. This thread is now moving forward about the way you do in the left lane, paisano.

I don't agree with the law and it would not harm me so no I wouldn't turn the guy in. Personally when I am out and about I don't drink because it's more important to me to be able to protect myself and my family at all times. I toss back the cold ones in the confines of my home.

Just curious, are you allowed to CC and drink with a unloaded gun and no accessible ammo?
Maybe he didn't want to leave gun in vehicle.
