A quick side note, it was rather interesting to hear a detective say how being on crack and alcohol saved the guy's life.

Glad you're okay. Looks like you defended yourself very well. I hope I'm never put in that situation, but if I am, I hope I handle it as well as you did. How were you carrying the G36?

At least you had it loaded. And better to have it in the console than at the house. I guess this can be a good learning experience for everyone: Have the gun on your person whenever possible and don't assume you will be able to rack the slide when some drunk crackhead comes after you. Again, nice job handling the situation. Score another one for the good guys.

adf, glad things went well for you and not so well for your assailant.Great example of why the console is not such a great place to keep your weapon when you leave your vehicle.Perfect example of why you always carry a round chambered.

Like the commercial says, life comes at ya fast. What did they want? Money?

Notice too, while one engaged the victim, another came in and blindsided him.We can all learn a lot from adfs experience.

adf...awesome job and glad you are ok. You handled this situation very well and you're an excellent example of the responsible CHL holder, you did us all proud! Thanks for sharing your feelings and what you felt were your mistakes and good practice examples. We should all learn from this.

Nice job sir! Hopefully it teaches the scumbag a lesson. You handled the situation perfectly. I too have my gun in the center console when I am in the car. There has been a time or two where I forgot to put my J-frame in my pocket when I got out of the car. Hopefully now I will remember to always arm myself when out of my car.

I have had my share of crackheads/methheads bothering me at the gas pumps before. Now whenever I pump gas, I always have my hand in my pocket with my hand on the grip.

I am glad you are ok. I am pretty sure the scumbag and the scumbags family won't be able to sue you since you were in your car. I think the Castle Doctrine would apply here. 8)

Glad your okay and smart move to remove your self from the area and call 911. Sorry it took shooting someone to save yourself from the attack. But they learned the hard way about attacking a victim in this case. Maybe this will get the BG into a life changing moment and his friend . But you never know.

Well done. Glad you are OK.

The video reinforces why I now train in unarmed combatives. Sometimes we may have to trade punches with one or more attackers as things escalate toward their conclusion. It also illustrates how close your target will likely be when shooting becomes necessary. Better to train for the close-in threat than the 50 ft. target bullseye. Speed and power over traditional marksmanship wins the day. Also, it's worth noting that the perp tries to engage in conversation and various requests before the attack. This is why I hate panhandelers so much. They're one click away from violent robber.

Highly education situation here.

I strongly encourage the OP to withhold any more comments until fully cleared in this incident.
