Need CCW instruction for Domestic Violence Victim

Post by catfish86 »

I have a tax client who had a domestic situation. She has a very valid concern that her soon to be ex husband is a danger to her and her special needs child. I helped her to obtain a temporary permit but she needs to get a regular permit when the 90 days expires.

Her child's needs are rather extensive and this is made worse by caregivers being afraid of the husband.

That leads to a need for getting the training quickly and at home (I understand the range issue will be a problem).

This is in Stark County. Is there anyone who is an instructor that can step up and give at home instruction for this lady? She has a good income and thus the fee is not the problem.

Seems like the range issue needs to be addressed upfront. Does she happen to live outside of the city limits on a property that would be able to be used for a short pistol range? Otherwise, is she able to be away from her home for the two hours (plus travel time) required by Ohio law?

She can't shoot at the house but is only 15 minutes from a range and can arrange for a couple of hours to do that.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to help her out. If there are any other instructors in the Stark County area that can help, please step up.

Ideally, she needs a video-based classroom portion that can be taken at her own pace, and she can arrange for coverage for the range portion fairly easily from our correspondence.

Good work. Here's hoping she never needs to use it.

It would be really nice if the justice system actually does its job and puts this guy away for some serious time.

That would make too much sense. Can't have that from a gov agency.
