If my crew had social media back in the day, I doubt we would have graduated High School....much less a 12 year old...According to the Fremont Police Department, a 12-year-old was arrested after posting a message to Snapchat on Sunday with the caption "all the school supplies I need" and a photo of three firearms, which were later learned to be BB guns upon confiscation.

Well, there was a little more than a picture.

Re: 12 yr old arrested for posting pictures of BB guns onlin
I completely missed the Fremont location. Smh...
My take on this-
Is literally- why was a 12 yr old arrested?
For bb guns?
For posting pictures on a social media platform?
For saying something stupid?
He committed no illegal activity in any of those actions.
He did not take them to school.
He did not illegally possess something restricted by age.
He did not specifically threaten to shoot up a school, shoot someone... or even prove himself to have constructive intent by utilizing actual firearms.
Last I knew- bb guns weren't a deadly weapon.
Now, was he stupid to do so? Yes, I get it... it was dumb.
I say dumb things every day as an adult.
I would never do them.
To me, it's a hint of 1984 thought police tactics.
He now has an arrest record, albeit juvenile, that he will deal with for life- for a picture on HIS OWN social media account.
Have none of these school officials seen a meme at all?
"Arrest him!"
What happened to talking to his parents, where's the school councilor talking to him first? Where's a good old fashioned butt whooping?
Cops show up, handcuffs, in a car- in a jail.
If he wasn't totally messed up before- he is now.

I've said it before and I will say it again. "Zero tolerance equates to zero common sense."
