Drug bust in PA counts M1 Garands as assault rifles

Post by kcclark »

Somewhat of a surprise that the PA attorney general figured out that a M1 Garand is an actual weapon of war. OTOH, he is still including rifles that have never seen a battlefield.

I tried to find bigger pictures but failed.

Only marginally related: Saw a story about how the LA Sheriff is donating a bunch of confiscated guns to be melted down and used for statues. Story included a picture of a garbage truck dumping a bunch of rifles. Did a search to figure out where the picture came from. Found out that it was taken in 2018 in California. What struck me was the Left wants us to believe "assault rifles" are everywhere and causing a zillion problems. Looking at this picture of thousands of rifles, I could spot just one AR. Seems like the narrative does not match reality. What a surprise. ;)

All those guns to make a statue of an Antifa bro throwing a molotov cocktail.

I'm not surprised.. PA has a large number of anti-gunners in various govt positions.. Gov Wolfe, Philadelphia Mayor, the Philadelphia DA, makes sense the AG is an anti as well.

Our Gun Violence Task Force - a unique collaboration between the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office - is comprised of attorneys + field agents who investigate the origins of crime guns and trace them back to prevent future crimes. Gun trafficking and illegal transfers are fueling the gun violence epidemic – and our communities cannot withstand this crisis.
Our message is clear: crime guns have no place in our communities - and the GVTF is our smart-on-crime plan, as law enforcement, to address it.

On Monday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro (D-Montgomery) issued a legal opinion, with support from Gov. Tom Wolf (D-York), broadening the definition of firearms to include “80% receivers,” which are partially complete guns that can easily be made functional with a DIY kit.
Yep that's right, just make up your own definitions of what a firearm is.
