If that's the most passive way to serve a warrant I'd hate to see their definition of aggressive.

Newly-released audio recordings from the investigation into the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor reveal Louisville Police officers arrived at her home with battering rams despite it being considered a 'soft target' and cops admitting they did not 'anticipate a threat.'

Police interviews with Sergeant John Mattingly, who led the deadly late-night raid on March 13, and Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker, who was at the home during the shooting, were obtained by NBC News.
None of the police officers have been charged in Taylor's death, and the new recordings reveal Sgt Jason Vance, who conducted the interviews, told Mattingly that the cops' approach was 'the most passive way in.'
In interviews with Walker, he said he and Taylor, who were watching a movie in their bedroom, shouted, 'who is it?' but did not hear a response, prompting him to grab his gun over fears of an intruder.

Walker was questioned over the incident by Sgt Amanda Seelye, at 4 in the morning, hours after the shooting.

He admitted he was 'scared about what to say', before Seeyle reassured him they just wanted to know what happened and said it would 'be good' for him to sign the waiver to get his statement.

'And then we can leave you alone,' she says. He was indicted six days later.

Walker told investigators had fired a 'warning' shot, thinking someone was breaking in, before gunfire broke out from police.

The family's lawsuit states Mattingly and the other officers serving the warrant, Cosgrove and Hankison, then began shooting 'erratically, recklessly, willfully, wantonly and maliciously from inside the home, outside the home, outside a neighbor's home, outside Breonna's patio door and outside the window to Breonna's sister's room.'

some movement finally.. dunno that this particular policing reform goes far enough

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 801720002/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Louisville's metro government is expected to announce a "substantial" financial settlement Tuesday with the family of Breonna Taylor,
The settlement amount has not been disclosed, but it is expected to dwarf the biggest payout previously made by police, according to a person knowledgeable about the details who said he could not be identified.

The largest amount the city has paid to date to settle allegations of police misconduct was $8.5 million to Edwin Chandler in 2012, who was wrongfully imprisoned for more than nine years after Detective Mark Handy perjured himself

In addition to the payment, the deal is expected to include several policing reforms, including a requirement that commanders approve all search warrants before they go to a judge, the person told The Courier Journal.
A large settlement in the civil suit brought by Taylor's family comes as a Jefferson County grand jury may screen the criminal case as soon as this week.

The grand jury would decide whether criminal charges should be filed against any of the three officers involved in her shooting death

Gee, I guess all of the character assassination against the victim didn't have the desired result.
It didn't work in the cases of Kathryn Johnston and Carolina Obrycka either.
Of course Taylor and Johnston are still dead, and I guess that just doesn't matter.

A number that's been mentioned several times on local political forums here--admittedly, 100 miles from Louisville--is $12 million.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Brace for impact.
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- Police in Louisville, Kentucky, were restricting access to downtown in preparation for the state attorney general's announcement about whether he will charge officers in Breonna Taylor's shooting death.

"While we do not know when the Attorney General will make his announcement, LMPD is taking the following actions now to ensure the area is as safe as possible for those coming downtown to express their First Amendment Rights, as well as those who live and work in the area," the Louisville Metro Police Department said Tuesday in a statement.

Police said they would place barricades around Jefferson Square Park, where many protests have been held, and the perimeter of the downtown area, allow only pedestrians in the blocks immediately surrounding Jefferson Square Park, restrict vehicle traffic in other areas of downtown and limit access to parking garages.

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron said earlier this month that "an investigation, if done properly, cannot follow a certain timeline."

"When the investigation concludes and a decision is made, we will provide an update about an announcement," he said.

I live 40 mins away, got my rifles all ready to go just in case. They've shot 2 cops so far and from what I read people are shooting at others. One woman was found under a bridge with 3 bullet wounds. Of course Sleepy Joe and Slutty Harris put on Twitter say her name and we'll change law enforcement in her name.

So now it seems the title of this thread is a little less accurate than we were all led to believe for months. Ms.Taylor may not have been a "suspect" as such, but sure as hell a person of interest for quite a while.

Assuming that the KY AG isn't a "Baghdad Bob" level of pathological liar, this has been one of the biggest gaslighting jobs in the history of media.

Again, assuming that he's telling the truth, this whole thing was on the level of the "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" in terms of pure manufactured deceit.

The sheer immensity of the degree of deception by the media is breathtaking.

But hey, it's 2020 and at this point the "mainstream" media have said to Walter Duranty and Josef Goebbels, "Here, hold my beer!"

And this is coming from somebody who LONG ago stopped giving the cops the benefit of the doubt and isn't likely to start again any time soon.

Regarding the witness who alleged that the police did identify themselves, the attorney for the guy who shot at the cops is alleging that it was one witness out of 15, and that particular witness initially said he did NOT hear the police identify themselves. He denied hearing it again in a 2nd interview. It was only after a third interview by investigators that he now recalls hearing the cops ID themselves. IDK if that's true for not, but if it is perhaps a clarification of this would be in the best interest of getting to the truth, assuming of course that is what the state wants to do.

I'm ALWAYS skeptical of the police, especially when it comes to raids, given the vile (and ongoing) history of the Chicago PD.

On the other hand, SO much of the media's narrative was contradicted by the KY AG that if he's either lying, or just blindly spewing the union narrative, he HAS to know that he'll be exposed. It's hard to imagine a non-Democrat official being THAT transparently dishonest, although it's certainly possible.

A lot of this is coming from Ben Crump, the Hegelian philosopher who declared that Michael Brown was "smeared"... by the unedited tape of him robbing and assaulting the Asian convenience store worker.

It didn't help the credibility of the police that instead of making any sort of comprehensive and unambiguous statement of the relevant facts, they either sat on or interminably dribbled out statements sotto voce, while sources every bit as dubious as Ben Crump whispered accusations against Breonna Taylor, eerily reminiscent of the behavior of the Atlanta PD after their murder of Kathryn Johnston.

The police can hardly complain that they aren't trusted when they consistently act in ways virtually GUARANTEED to CREATE distrust, even in people who loathe BLM.

They're taking an issue like police brutality/corruption/overreach (insert your favorite term) and making it binary. This is how the dance is done: One side radicalizes and takes all the logic and reason away from the argument. The other side, lazily, objects without re-establishing the proper standard - using the previously removed logic and reason. It's as though we've divided both sides of the equation by Logic and Reason, removing it entirely, leaving us with only the radicalized issue.

What we are left with is being pro BLM's narrative (Defund/Abolish the police and nuclear family) or anti BLM's narrative (being pro cop and nuclear family) in all circumstances. Even people like Rand Paul are taking flak for calling out no-knock raids in the middle of the night, as though that was as American a concept as apple pie. No more nuance, it's all or nothing. Trump is America, Biden is Marxist. Choose!

What tribe are you from? Can you see where tribalism walks us away from upholding justice? Give us a binary option and all of the logic, reason, truth, justice and the American Way is dead. Are you for or against the Patriot Act? Are you for or against another terrorist attack? Choose!

Now the "facts" have come out and if you're not with BLM's crazy, you must want to offer the cops up for Sainthood.

Watch the cognitive dissonance of people who backed the cops during the riots and looting, being arrested for not wearing a face diaper.

Even if we beat back Biden, BLM and all the other crazies, if we don't get back to what it means to be a FREE STATE (read 2A), we lose. Tribalism is getting you right where they want you. We shoot our brothers in our neighborhoods while the Federal Reserve inflates to infinity, gives us digital dollars they can control in total, and on and on...

Just as in 2016, if "we" win, "we" will not decry the tribalism used to gain that victory leaving America, Liberty and humanity poorer for the effort.

BTW, there's a great "documentary" on Crump during the Trayvon Saga.

I'm certainly not on Team Crump...but here we go with that tribalism...

This is an equally weighted conversation between two people who probably aren't Trump voters...

What if I told you that this was not an arrest warrant, but a search warrant, and one of 5 of approved in a 12 minute span?

They lay out the irony that the charged cop is the one that missed...the one who was bad at using deadly force but actually caused no harm is the one on trial?
