National Guard Deployed in NY

Post by bignflnut »

In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the most rigorous actions to date to combat the spread in New Rochelle, which he described as the "most significant cluster in the country" and accounts for the lion's share of the surging caseload in the tri-state area.

Those measures include deploying National Guard troops to a Health Department command post and setting up a satellite testing facility and one-mile, two-week containment area in the city. Public schools in that containment zone will be closed through March 25. As of Tuesday, Westchester County has seen 108 confirmed COVID-19 cases; that's 57 percent of all tri-state cases. See how the tri-state case count breaks down.
With New Rochelle, a small city just north of New York City in Westchester County, emerging as the epicenter of the state’s outbreak, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday announced a targeted containment strategy to halt the spread of the virus.

“New Rochelle, at this point, is probably the largest cluster of these cases in the United States,” he said at a news conference on Tuesday.

The state’s plan focuses on a “containment area” in New Rochelle, where it would deploy the National Guard to clean schools and deliver food to quarantined residents, Mr. Cuomo said.

The area is a one-mile radius centered around a synagogue believed to be at the center of the cluster, officials said.

Schools and other large gathering facilities like community centers and houses of worship within the area will be closed for two weeks beginning on Thursday, Mr. Cuomo said. Businesses such as grocery stores and delis would remain open.

The state did not plan to close streets or implement travel restrictions, Mr. Cuomo said.

“You’re not containing people,” he said. “You’re containing facilities.”
Right...containing facilities...public safety and all...

Hey! Goober!
U will need to isolate 'retroactive' about 15 days, :P if the virus is found now as in 'today.'

There's a neu miracle product that has outpaced the bicycle, it is called a car.

Cars have made the bipedal limited area of a mile accessible in oh, say, less then 2 minutes  even in most NY traffik...

Quarantine areas setup in an arbitrary fashion are ...just that. An arbitrary quar that goes 500 paces to the left whilst the bug has crawled 550 paces is ineffective.
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)

Yeah, I'm that good
