CLE police cptain pulled for DUI with firearm. Let 'em go!

Post by Glock Rock »

I wonder how one of us would fare on this stop?
Investigators are currently reviewing the situation after Cleveland police Capt. John Sotomayor was pulled over for suspected drunk driving late Christmas night.
Twinsburg police department says it received a 911 call for a "possible impaired driver" ... Residents reported that the gray Toyota Tacoma was "swerving all over" the highway, driving on the shoulder, and that it did not stop even though other drivers were flashing their lights.
they were giving Sotomayor a "courtesy" but would be taking his police-issued weapon that was loaded on his hip.

One time when I was in Loss Prevention we stopped a shoplifter stealing fishing lure. When processing the guy he pulled out a badge and identified himself as a police chief of a town nearby. The loss prevention agent who was doing the paperwork was a off duty police officer. Lucky for the shoplifter he did not have his service
firearm on him. We did process him but when the agent went to file charges his police chief pressured him into dropping them. The agent reviewed the situation with store management and it was agreed to drop the charges so the agent wouldn't experience any retaliation at his full time job at the PD.

I have a friend who is a retired LEO. One time he told me he ticketed a woman for speeding. After the ticket was written (and at that point had to be processed) she pulled out her "spousal badge".

Did you all know there are "spousal badges" that get them out of jail, tickets, etc?

It turned into a quid pro quo ticket fest between the 2 departments for a while.

Family badges: https://www.smithwarren.com/visualbadge ... cat=Family

Haven't met an (honest) patrol officer that likes them. Burnt out, bitter, corrupted "public servants" love them.

It really gets my goat when a law is passed that has exemptions for the law makers and/or their enforcers.

I keep seeing "law makers" powninding on their lecterns saying that there should be stiffer penalties for shooting/killing cops.
WHAT THE HELL!!!
Murder is murder, what makes a cop any more important than any other human being?

Why your position is without logical fault AlanM this is lawmakers we are dealing with. It isn't that they are more important, but the cop murderer is supposedly a different level of crazy relative to, oh say, your run of the mill spouse murderer. That is, it takes major crazy cojones to kill a cop.
