Impossible, Governor Newsome just signed serious laws to prevent this!

Breaking News: Democratic legislators are throwing a hissy fit since the news media have pre-emptied the congressional impeachment hearings with the California school shooting. "The impeachment hearings are serious", one legislator was heard saying. (OK, I'm being sarcastic)

Giffords.org is already saying they know laws that would prevent this stuff. They need our support to help elect legislators to get laws passed.

Which laws? California already has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. As far as their website, all they day on the school shooting is this:

https://giffords.org/press-release/2019 ... -shooting/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
“Enough. Americans have had enough of living in fear that today gun violence will change their lives. This is our reality because Trump, McConnell, and their Senate allies have done nothing to change it. They can’t ignore the nightmare this public safety threat creates any longer.“Every politician paid to defend the status quo by the gun lobby needs to answer whether they are comfortable with live shooter drills becoming routine, students running terrified from their classrooms, and entire communities being locked down. This gun violence epidemic is not beyond our control. We can take action to change this fate so horrific acts of violence don’t dominate our lives.

“It’s been 260 days since the House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Background Checks Act. How many more deaths will happen before they sign that lifesaving legislation into law?”
Is the proposed act universal background checks? If so California already has that, and I don't know of any state where a 16 yr old can legally buy a gun anyway. Also the weapon was a .45 pistol, not an "assault style" weapon.

Where was this kid when he started shooting? If he was inside the school at all he shouldn't have been able to get a handgun in a backpack inside the school past the front entrance. If it occurred at the front entrance there should've been armed defenders of some kind available. That's the real problem, not some gun law or lack of it. The school allegedly had 2400 students there. Until school districts start treating schools like courts and airports, this stuff is going to continue regardless of any gun law changes. (which murderers and other criminals don't obey anyway)

What about the dozens of laws already on the books that the shooter broke? Hmmmm... murder? Against the law already. Bringing a firearm on to school property? Against the law already. Possession by a minor? Against the law already. etc, etc. Yet another new, useless law will do NOTHING to stop these lunatics.

Isn't that why they're going for bans? They know this framework isn't working.
They need to step up the tyranny, and it just so happens to coincide with the "green agenda" goals of Eugenics. Bonus!

And...won't the weak spine-ed GOPe go along with these databases/bans? Don't we all go along with the concept that Congress exists to limit freedom and liberty for the safety and security of the nation? (See 9/11)

What are you even suggesting? That 15 year olds be able to bring guns to school?! That they be able to use and understand these weapons of war?! post such on social media??!! The media will destroy anyone who says this, those people will lose elections and therefore, these ideas are not to be discussed.

Something a little disturbing IMHO from the article:
Deputy James Callahan, a school resource officer at Saugus, said he was on his way to campus when the shooter call went out Thursday. When he arrived minutes later, he rushed to help students wounded in the quad along with other off-duty law enforcement officers who were already rendering aid.
“When you’re a school resource deputy, you take a lot of pride in keeping your campus secure,” he said. “You never think a tragic thing like this is going to happen.”
So there was no school resource officer at a school when allegedly 2400 students in attendence, he was "minutes" away from the campus. :(

In addition, he makes the statement, "You never think a tragic thing like this is going to happen." I'm sorry, but what the heck to you think you are primarily there for? (assuming you are even "there" at all) I know school resource officers do a variety of duties, (I used to be assigned as an armed security officer to a HS) but what today is the number one responsibility of an armed resource officer in 2019? He never thought it would happen? If he'd had said he hoped it would never happen I would agree, but not thinking about it? If you are a school resource officer you'd better be thinking about it, planning for it, etc. Your life and the lives of a lot of innocent people could depend on it.

No kidding. That is exactly the type of thing he should be thinking about and preparing to deal with. What a maroon.

It was reported today on the radio that the handgun used was a "ghost gun". Police are inspecting his computer to see if he ordered the parts and assembled it himself or if he had help.
