VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — An Alabama man was seriously injured Saturday when a loaded gun in a diaper bag discharged as he was changing his daughter’s diaper, WBRC reported.
The man was attempting to change the child’s diaper inside the back seat of the vehicle, parked near a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in Vestavia Hills, when the gun went off, AL.com reported. According to Vestavia Hills Police Department spokesman Capt. Johnny Evans, the gun went off as he picked up or reached inside the bag, which was on the floorboard, CNN reported
Lt. Michael Keller of the Vestavia Hills Police Department confirmed that the man was shot in the chest, while the child suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, WBRC reported. Vestavia Hills Fire Department Capt. Ryan Farrell told the television station the man’s injuries were potentially life-threatening.
