I didn't see in the article if the Eddie Eagle program was involved or the children were just taught the same principles by parents, but either way it worked. :)

The boys said they knew not to touch the gun, and to let an adult handle the situation.

“I’ve been told that you should treat every gun like it’s loaded,” Landry told KSTU.

Police agreed.

“It’s OK to teach your kids about guns. They can be very dangerous and in this situation, it could have very well have been,” Pleasant Grove police Officer Steven Brinton told the television station.
So, police agree (to treat all guns like they're loaded) and clearly training a youngster with even just these basics, could very well have saved their lives.

But should our educational centers where our youngsters are supposed to be trained up actually provide such training? Just let someone on the school board bring that topic up and watch the feathers fly.
