The danger of assuming something about a shooting news story

Post by M-Quigley »

For the last week the MSM has highlighted a shooting in Texas. Now there are lots of shootings every day in the US, but in this particular story a mother was leaving a Walmart and someone shot at her car, killing her 7 yr old daughter. That is not why it went national however, because unfortunitely stuff like this is a regular occurance in places like Chicago, etc. There was no known reason why the family would've been shot at, and the suspect was alleged to be a approx 50 yr old white guy with a grey beard and wearing a red hoodie, driving a red pickup truck. Some people, including celibrites and civil rights activists immediently jumped to the conclusion it was racially motivated and talking about hate crime charges. There was even a protest demanding justice for the girl before the suspect was even identified.

The rally was held in the parking lot of a Walmart near where the shooting happened on Dec. 30 as Jazmine Barnes and her family drove to a grocery store.

During the rally, people held up balloons and stuffed animals, as well as signs that said “Justice for Jazmine.” Organizers of the rally also led the crowd in chants that repeated the phrases, “What do we want? Justice. Who do we want it for? Jazmine.”
Jazmine’s family believes her death was racially motivated. The girl was black and the alleged shooter is described as a white man in a red truck.

I even read a comment on another site that suggested that a Texas concealed carrier was somehow responsible, because it's not like someone is going to be carrying a gun in their truck illegally or anything when they want to commit murder. One idiot (probably a troll) said the only thing that was missing on the suspect description was a red Trump hat, as if Trump were somehow responsible as well.

Anyway a civil rights activist allegedly organized a $100,000 reward for info, and it may have lead to a anon tip, don't know for sure. They now have one suspect in custody and looking for another. The one arrested isn't the trigger puller, but a driver, but he's still involved. The police think the family was a victim of mistaken identity, that the pair intended to shoot someone else for some alleged specific reason. Oh, and the alleged white racist in the pickup truck that was seen racing away from the scene? The police now suspect it was merely an innocent witness to the shooting who was in the area and wanted to get away from the shooting as quickly as possible, in order to also avoid becoming a victim himself. It just shows the dangers of assuming something simply based on a news story without waiting for all the facts to come in.

What I read on a couple of news sites was that this was drug criminal activity, and the assailant(s) shot up the wrong vehicle.

Race cards got thrown on the table right away, now there's this awkward thing where the activists have to pick them back up very quietly, so they can hastily slam them on the table again next time.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

I felt something was amiss when the sister stated the white man “ had blue eyes “. I thought to myself, how could she possibly tell that ?
