Here's what the sporting goods retailer reported for the second quarter compared with what Wall Street analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected:

Adjusted earnings per share: $1.20 vs. $1.06 expected
Revenue: $2.18 billion vs. $2.24 billion expected
Same-store sales: down 4 percent vs. a decline of 0.6 percent expected

SNIP

Shares of Dick's Sporting Goods have climbed about 24 percent so far this year, bringing the company's market cap to about $3.6 billion.
While the shares may have been up 24% YTD, remember how many hedge funds and various money movers are attempting to virtue signal against RKBA. They can only support it for so long, not going to stay on a falling company.

You and Steve went there? I’m not one to judge and all, but that’s a pretty public declaration.

There was one conservative shareholder who stood up for gun rights and gun owners but was ignored by Dicks':
Conservative shareholder David Almasi — who is vice president of the National Center for Public Policy Research and represented conservative think tank’s Free Enterprise Project — voiced his opinions to Fox Business’ Stuart Varney on the chain’s falling sales Thursday.

“They were very unhappy that I was bringing up the fact that their sales have been down ever since they made the decision to do so in late February,” said Almasi, who attended the shareholders meeting. “Ever since, they’ve been losing money.”

Almasi told Varney that he was the one and only shareholder in attendance at the meeting who “stood up for gun owners and the right to shareholders who support the idea that a sporting goods store should be selling guns.

“There’s no way this chain is going to get out of it, and unfortunately, they’re going to have to ride this down,” Almasi added. “Because they’ve had three earnings calls where they’ve said this has hurt their business. But they’re not going to make any waves changing it.”

This is audio only of the June Stockholder's meeting in which Mr. Almasi confronted the CEO, Mr. Stack about the poor decision to stop sales of AR-15 rifles and and long guns to people under 21 years of age. It's priceless!

That was all transitioning to field and stream by plan already.

At the rate they are going, F&S will have to change the name to Ball Field & Stream.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. DKS -11.01% said Tuesday it will stop selling firearms at 125 of its stores, further pulling back from the business after the retailer decided last year to tighten its policies around gun sales.

Dick’s has struggled with declining sales since its CEO Ed Stack made a public decision to stop selling guns to buyers under 21 and take assault-style weapons out of all stores after a fatal school shooting in Parkland, Fla. Dick’s is also working to stem sluggish sales as more shoppers buy sporting goods online.

This year Dick’s will remove guns and some hunting gear from 125 locations, after testing the concept in 10 stores last year, Mr. Stack said on a conference call Tuesday. Dick’s had 729 of its namesake locations as of Feb. 2. The space will be used to sell higher-margin, faster-selling categories such as licensed sports gear and outdoor recreation equipment, Mr. Stack said.

Don’t dick around, either serve the gun/hunt market or the soccer mom. Don’t massage the point, just pick one.

PS Soccer moms like Amazon, good luck with that.
