UT med student shot in face in robbery

Post by wobblygoblin »

This happened a couple of days ago in St. Louis. An University of Toledo Med student working in St. Louis was robbed at gun point then shot once in the face. She's in critical but stable condition.

Besides this being a horrible act of violence, here's an interesting quote,
“In all these cases, the victims cooperated and they were still shot,” St. Louis police Lt. Col. Lawrence O'Toole told the Post-Dispatch.

So much for just handing over your money. Hopefully she'll make a ful recovery while the scumbag rots.

Hope that she recovers fully - both physically and emotionally.

I can't remember where I first read it, but it was a discussion about a career felon, when faced with the possibility of a long prison sentence if identified as the perpetrator of a crime, may very well prefer to leave no witnesses.

Reminds me of Lance Thomas.

When asked during an interview,
<paraphrasing>
Why not just give them what they wanted? Maybe they get a few watches and they'd be on their way.

Lance basically said,
He <bad guy> had his finger on the trigger and intended to negotiate with my life.

While we can't assume to be as fortunate as Lance was in all of his self defense experiences, it reminds us that we have to be mentally prepared to do battle and possibly deal with the reality of taking a life.
Win, lose or draw, it'll be hell.

I echo FarBlue's sentiment in wishing this unfortunate woman a speedy recovery.
