Making us all look bad

Postby JonasM » Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:54 pm

(Not in the news as far as I know - yet)

Today I received an email from the head of my daughter's school. It was relating to an event that happened on the campus of the elementary school on July 4th. Apparently, a seminar was taking place, and during a tour of the campus, one participant was struck by a bullet that had been fired in the air from one of the homes in the surrounding neighborhood. The individual was taken to the hospital, treated and released, and is expected to make a full recovery.

The local sheriff is investigating - it was believed that some dumb(expletive) was shooting in the air to celebrate the 4th. (This is a township, so gunfire in and of itself is not illegal). I hope the person is located and charged.

This is the kind of thing that makes gun owners look bad.

Just had to vent.

And as a bonus, according to MSM counting methods this will be logged as a school shooting for statistical purposes.
Never ask if you can carry at a non-posted place, but always ask why you cannot at one that is!
Just because they offer call ahead seating doesn't mean you call ahead for carry permission.

Jonas
I disagree, wrong mindset in my opinion.
Doesn't make me look bad.
With that thought process, a rapist makes all men with a penis look bad.
A drunk driver makes all motorists look bad.
An abortion doctor makes all physicians look bad.

I could go on and on.

Some would say, though not I, that
Abortions are about a women's constitutional right.

Although automobiles were not written about in the constitution , the right to assemble was. Some form of travel is needed to assemble.

And pro-creation is all about the pursuit of life , liberty and happiness.

If you are looking for an argument, I concede, as you are much better at it than I.

If you felt that I drifted off topic, I don't think that I drifted anymore than old people do, driving in the left lane.

I knew someone would make that point, and while technically I agree with you, the anti's will grab onto this as another example of why gun regulation needs to be increased. It's not logical, but there it is.

Personally, I feel it also kills any chance I have of starting a shooting club at my daughter's school. The upper school is way out in the middle of nowhere, perfectly situated to safely shoot. Knowing that the teachers and parents lean at least mildly left, I can't see even bringing it up now.

This is the same school where my daughter wrote an essay at age 8: " My First Rifle" without an eyebrow raised. Times have changed.
