I'm baaaack.
That little personal matter has been dealt with, the truth has won over the lies. I'm back.

It means I gave up my ccw while battling for my kids. It took nearly 3 years to beat the system but it's now over and I'm back. And looking for a .357 for sale.

Glad to see you made it through. I remember at the time that I was worried she would falsely accuse domestic violence and you would find yourself unable to possess a firearm.

I don't remember the story, but if it's something that might be helpful to others, maybe you can post some of the non specific details. And, congratulations.

Re: I'm baaaack.
At the risk of boring people I'll gladly share some lessons if it helps just one person. I've learned a lot about a lot of things. It's all public record.
(in no particular order)
Lesson #1 is, if you're in a rocky marriage....if it looks suspicious - it is suspicious. Avoid denial.
She wanted out of the marriage but couldn't find a reason so she accused me of threatening her with a gun. Once that powder keg is lit you're dang near helpless in Ohio - even if she lied.
And then it's not you against her, it's you against the whole state of Ohio. She sat back and let them take over.
Lesson #2, never stop fighting. The wheels turn very very slowly, but don't get dismayed.
Lesson #3, there is no justice system.
Lesson #4, there is no justice. It's mostly about what you can afford and what it costs to get to the truth. In my case the truth finally stood tall while her lies were exhausted and gave in before it was brought to court. Nearly Two and a half years and $20,000 later.
Lesson #5, don't waste time on support groups, they only want money.
Lesson #6, don't get a women lawyer. I don't care what you heard. "They can be real B's against your ex". They can also be sympathizers and want to settle.
#7, don't get a "corporate" lawyer. Most of your money goes to filing and paying their errand boys. Find an individual. They're more personal and easier to work with.
#8, don't rely on the lawyer to do all the work. It's not easy, but do your own research, write out the questions to be asked in court. I looked at it like I'm just paying for his experience and ability to question her on the stand. My last lawyer (4 total ) did nearly everything I asked.
#9 Facts. Details. No hearsay, no opinions. Indisputable facts. Act quickly to get cell phone records - and they can be gotten - because they do have a shelf life. Some judges allow them if they are pertinent enough. Don't let anyone talk you out of getting a subpoena for them.
#10 Drop a bad lawyer like rotten carp. There are millions out there. I'd define a bad lawyer as someone who wants to short cut everything. Everything can be fought, nothing is final. Don't take the low road just because he suggests it.
That's enough for now. Sorry if I bored anyone, and I'll help anyone who is unfortunately in this situation. That's a promise I made to myself.

Re: I'm baaaack.
Not at all boring. Your lesson #3 about there not being a justice system? Yep, I figured that out from the miseries of a close friend way back when. Would be more accurate to call it "the legal system'; justice makes an appearance sometimes, but it's not the star of the show.centermass wrote:That's enough for now. Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!
