New CHL holder from Greene County

Post by sriethmiller »

Hey everyone! I just recently got my CHL for the first time. Its a pretty different feeling walking around in public carrying my Glock 19! Any tips anyone would like to pass along about effectively keeping a firearm concealed would be helpful, thanks!

I'm an open carrier, so I don't care who sees my handgun, but...

To ensure a well-hidden concealed handgun, a good holster is the key.

I can't just recommend any certain model because each person is a unique shape and might carry in a different spot or at a different angle.

Try many until you find the one that works best for you. Holsters.com has Bianchi and Safariland holsters of all kinds. You can also find custom holster makers on this board.

Welcome to the forums!

Many of us will have many different opinions on how best to conceal - but most (if not all) will stress the importance of a good, well fitting holster.

My personal option is to dress around my sidearm - long, loose shirts - jackets, ect. But, I have taken to open carry quite a bit more lately.

Hello and welcome.
A good IWB (inside the waistband) like Crossbreed is hard to beat for concealability and comfort for me. As already stated, it depends alot on ur body type/ clothing preferences.

Like the others stated, try what's comfortable to YOU. There's no end all be all holster that's perfect for everyone. Every individual has their own end all be all holster. But again, try dressing around the gun. I've taken a stance similar to MWSY and 75-80% of the time I OC, so most of the time it's not an issue for me but think about buying clothes that are a size up from what you normally wear (40" waist instead of 38") or buy the tall size (I.e. XLT vs XL shirt) to hang low enough to cover when you bend over.

ETA: which ever holster you decide to go with, practice, practice, practice. Build the muscle memory and comfort with your draw and reholster ability in case the excrement hits the fan and you do have to draw.

I forgot to mention this in my last post, but consider getting a good belt too.
