Christmas Train Set- Charity Gift

Post by Mr. Glock »

Maybe it is the old(er) man in me, but I always think of train sets at Christmas. We happen to have one that was given to my kids when they were too old to play with it, so it has been sitting in storage for a few years. I have a friend who collects trains who would be happy to take it, but, being Christmas, I wanted to reach out to the OFCC community to see if a child somewhere might appreciate/use a Christmas train set but their family is not in the financial position to acquire one? I was wondering if it could be put to good use in a charitable fashion, a fashion than an OFCCer might be aware of.

This is an O-Gauge Lionel Santa Fe set, complete and functional the only time it was used (about a decade ago) as far as I can recall. It has been in storage and moved around enough that I had to reinforce the outside box with duct tape. But the contents are pretty much brand new.

Honor system here, I'm happy to donate it to someone to perhaps brighten up a Christmas for a child(s) in some fashion, if it is needed. If not, that is fine too...just trying to spread a little Christmas cheer.

Very nice gesture! :)

Does anybody know why a train set around the Christmas tree became a tradition?
