Saw a article on the evening local news about Republicans in the Ohio house working to draft impeachment documents for DeWine.

Looks like this is the same group - the Rep, Becker, is the one who was interviewed on screen.

They didn't have the votes to restrict the Governor's executive order authority on infectious disease issues, much less impeach him over it. IMHO restricting the power of the Governor is more important anyway. Why have the same problem come up later on down the road with some other governor? Better to eliminate the problem of the executive order, but the legislature couldn't even get that accomplished. It should be a bi partisan issue, because what if a governor issues an exec order the Democrats don't like and don't have the authority to review after a certain period of time? Unfortunately at the moment Dewine is doing some of what they currently want, and if it goes south Dewine gets the blame instead of them.

I think you can better understand this from the persuasion and political point of view rather than the pragmatic one. If the opposite party has the governorship, executive orders are bad and stirs up people toward your side (especially the base). If it's your party that makes the EO, it's to overcome recalcitrant people on the other side who won't legislate "for the common good" and also keep your base happy. This is about persuasion in the public sphere, not pragmatic solutions.
