As to DeWine - he can strut and fret all he likes but the General assembly isn’t going to just rubber stamp his wishes. Heck, his own “Strong Ohio” bill can’t even get the Democrats to support it, much less the squishy Republicans he needs to flip.

The only way for a “sanctuary” resolution from a local government entity to have any force of law would be for us to get rid of statewide preemption. You know...that little section of the law that we have used to beat Cleveland/Oberlin/Columbus/etc in court and force them to get rid of their stupid anti-gun ordinances? And get our lawyer fees reimbursed when we win? That section of law that we all worked so hard to get put into place to eliminate the patchwork quilt of gun laws in Ohio? Anybody seriously want to undermine that?
That preemption clause could go away if there was ever a democratic majority in both houses and a democrat as governor. Virginia was solidly red at one time and now it flipped. That was due to only a 40% turnout of the last election.

We would be mistaken if we thought that it could not happen here.

One would hope you are not waiting, one would hope you are working to keep the Tories well at bay here in Ohio.

But those who sign up to be a 2A sanctuary in the calm of Ohio’s political waters today may not all make the transition to supporting it in the rough waters possible in the future. In VA, they are standing up and being counted in the face of tyranny by their own state government. It makes a bigger splash.
But isn't the best defense a good offense?
So we wait until Ohio turns blue like Virginia did and try to fight our way out of a hole?
As you can tell I am a man of limited intellect, I'm just trying to have you all explain this to me.

Bear, we don't wait for anything. But we are not in the same place as VA. What we need to do is to continue to work in Ohio to shepherd and protect our 2A rights from the better and more advantageous position we currently enjoy vs those in VA. In short, work now, with purpose but without alarm, to prevent us from becoming like VA.

The good offense is what we are doing now (and have been doing) in Ohio....not flashy, but effective. Defense is what is going on in VA. Flashy but a last ditch defense.

Here's a joint statement by the VCDL and GOA about the 2A Sanctuary Movement. It's long but a good read.

Yes. And you should seriously want to undermine 9.68 too.
¶ 39... While recognizing the right to keep and bear arms as a "fundamental individual right" and "a constitutionally protected right in every part of Ohio," the statute plainly allows the state to regulate certain aspects of firearm ownership, transfer, possession, transporting, or use by providing that a person may own, possess, or keep any firearm "[e]xcept as specifically provided by * * * state law, or federal law[.]" "Simply put, the General Assembly, by enacting R.C. 9.68(A), gave persons in Ohio the right to carry a handgun unless federal or state law prohibits them from doing so." Clyde at ¶ 20. Thus, pursuant to R.C. 9.68, "federal or state regulations can limit an Ohioan's individual right to bear arms." Cleveland at ¶ 1.
I'm all for state preemption overall - the basis of your support. But let's not pretend that 9.68 is going to do much to help RKBA march forward. It's a rearguard action, at best.
State v Weber, citing Clyde and Cleveland, is doublespeak. Rights cannot be regulated by state or federal law. They can be UPHELD by law...but "regulated rights" are not ""unalienable Rights"", and are ,therefore, not Rights at all.

We keep applauding to uphold the State's argument against our RKBA!

ALLIANCE Becky Hupp, of East Canton, grew up in a home of hunters with a gun in nearly every corner of the house.

Even though she’s always been comfortable around guns, she didn’t buy one until someone broke into her home.

She’s now concerned that federal and state legislators are trying to take away her protection – as well as her constitutional right to bear arms.

“Law enforcement is 10 minutes away,” she said. “If you take our guns, how are we going to defend ourselves? A lot can happen in 10 minutes.”

Hupp was one of about 70 people who attended a meeting Saturday at Don Pancho’s Tex-Mex Cafe to discuss efforts to make Stark County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. A Second Amendment sanctuary, or 2A Sanctuary, refers to when a county or city government adopts a resolution or law that says it won’t follow any state or federal gun laws that it believes will violate the Second Amendment.

Anyone familiar with the following group referenced in the article ? My google search came up empty
Broadwater said they were inspired to hold the meeting after learning about the group, Ohio Stands United, which is organizing sanctuary efforts in counties throughout Ohio

Followed the link at end of article...unafraid.
By you and your fellow representatives advocating gun legislation in any manner within the State of Ohio, you have also violated the following;

Title 18 U.S. Code § 201 - Bribery

Title 18 U.S. Code § 241 - Conspiracy against rights

Title 18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law

Title 18 U.S. Code § 2382 - Misprision of Treason

Title 18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or Insurrection

Title 42 U.S. Code § 1983 - Civil Action for Deprivation of Rights

Title 42 U.S. Code § 1985 - Conspiracy to Interfere with Civil Rights

Title 42 U.S. Code § 1986 - Action for Neglect to Protect

It is imperative that you understand that Volume 18 reflects the law as it was known to exist after the 14th Amendment in 1868. In that Volume, Congress published a section entitled “The Organic Laws of The United States of America”. That section includes four documents:

1) The Declaration of Independence
2) The Articles of Confederation
3) The Northwest Ordinance and
4) The Constitution of the United States

So when you violated your oath to the Constitution, you also violated your oath to the other three organic laws.

What’s more, understand that the Bill of Rights is not our source of rights but restrictions against the government and its agents such as yourself. You also violated the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th and the 14th Amendments within the U.S. Constitution as well as §§ 1, 2, 4, 5, 14, 16 and 20 under Article 1 of the Ohio Constitution.

We the People are watching and we have had enough of the blatant disregard for the public office you hold and the outright disrespect and disdain you possess for not only the U.S. Constitution but our State’s Constitution.

We are currently in possession of your oath of office and will be in contact with the proper channels in order to hold you accountable to the aforementioned violations.

Constitutionally yours,
I'm sure people like DeWhine and Trump, who court the proRKBA voter only to seek "compromise" with the wrong people, would quickly chuckle and discard this letter...but The People are finally waking up, looking right through those clowns.

People in Kentucky probably thought the same but this treasonous nonsense is rearing its ugly head down there.

Anti-gun people are like sharks that smell blood and coyotes to a gut pile. Once they think they got the momentum, they won't stop.

The legislature in Virginia banned the possession of firearms in the capitol buildings that had been previously been permitted. They are gearing up for a very anti-2nd Amendment legislative session.

The worst mistake we can make in this state is thinking it can't happen here and relying on the Preemption Law.

Mr. Glock wrote:Do the easy work now to protect freedom, not the hard work later to attempt to defend it.
The easy work is keeping track of 11 pro gun bills and 24 gun control bills currently in the legislature, meeting with legislators, conducting research to support testimony either for or against bills, writing testimony, attending committee meetings, testifying for or against bills in committees and in general keeping on top of what is going on at the statehouse. This isn't all done by one person or a couple of people. It's done by all of us working together and doing what we can.

One could say that testifying against gun control bills is defending freedom.

I'd hate to be in Virginia right now. The 2A folks there definitely have their work cut out for them.

BOONE COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - There's another Second Amendment sanctuary in the Tri-State.

Boone County commissioners unanimously passed the resolution Tuesday night. That makes it the third county in the last week to symbolically take up arms.

However, these declarations carry no legal weight because states reserve the right to regulate firearms.
