According to the organization's official press statement, "Ohio Stands United is a statewide network of citizens forming local coalitions to preserve and defend the Bill of Rights as enumerated in the Ohio and United States Constitution. We educate and train citizens to be effective communicators, both knowledgeable in public policy and in organizing efforts, to safeguard the principles and ideals of our founding documents."

The press release further states, "We are concerned about recent overtures by the Ohio Senate and Governor Mike DeWine to promote and pass legislation that infringes upon our inalienable right to keep and bear arms without due process. As active members of our local community, our first step is to request that our Marion County Board of Commissioners pass a Resolution affirming the intent to protect and uphold our Federal and State Constitutional rights."

"Our long-term goal is to actually write legislation and get it on the Ohio ballot statewide, pertinent to all this government infringement," he said. "It's not only the Second Amendment. This senate bill, DeWine calls it STRONG Ohio, Senate Bill 221. That thing just tramples on the (Bill of Rights). ... There are many laws on the books that haven't been utilized (to address gun violence). Pushing new laws is not the answer."

According to the Ohio Stands United Facebook page, the boards of commissioners in 16 counties have passed resolutions "declaring the opposition ... to any restrictions on the Second Amendment" and declaring those counties to be a "Constitutional 2nd Amendment County."

Fourteen of those 16 counties are located in southern Ohio. Commissioners in Morrow and Knox counties have recently passed resolutions. Morrow County Commissioners approved the proposal on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Knox County Commissioners approved the resolution presented to them on Thursday, Feb. 13.

I went to the 2nd meeting of the 2A sanctuary group in Fairfield County on the 8th.

There were probably about 50-60 people in the room. The speaker that hosted the meeting was Mike Waits(?) It was a typical meeting with the gentleman from Hocking county telling everyone how they succeeded in getting a 2A resolution passed in that county.

The Republican candidate for Sheriff, Chief Mike Tussy, also spoke. He stated that he is an Endowment member of the NRA and a member of the US Concealed Carry Association.

He told us that when the CHL law was first proposed in Ohio that Ohio State Patrol opposed the legislation. To counter that, he and eight other patrolmen at the time, knocked on the doors of all the representatives to tell them that, from a LEO's point of view, that was good legislation.

He stated his opposition to red flag laws. He was asked if he were sheriff and if a red flag law were in effect, what he would do, if a Judge issued an order, for him to confiscate someone's firearms.

His answer was; "If that happens, then as sheriff, I better make sure that I have some pretty clean jail cells. Because, they are going to have to put me in one for being in contempt of court." Note that the other Republican candidate was not at the meeting.

Mr. Waits told us that State Representative Tim Schaffer was at the last meeting.

Mr. Aaron Adams, a candidate for state representative of Ohio's 78th district was there. He let us know about his opposition to red flags laws as well as other anti-gun legislation.

Both candidates for office, were very impressive.
