Petro considering a run for AG <edit> Not anymore

Post by cashman966 »

From the Dispatch article Dann answers $89,000 questions
Also yesterday, Dann's predecessor, Republican Jim Petro, told The Dispatch that he might be willing to jump into the special election to fill out the remaining two years of Dann's term.

No Republican is publicly in the running. The state GOP canceled a central committee vote scheduled for today to nominate a candidate.

"I have not said no, but I have not said yes," Petro said. "I promised to give it some thought over the weekend."

Petro acknowledged that party officials were making a strong pitch for him to run and "I haven't unequivocally said no."

Ignorant or Stupid, I'm not sure which is worse. If someone were stupid, at least they'd have an excuse for all the dumb things they say.

I'd love to see him in the race.

I was not into state politics when he was last in office so am unfamiliar with him. Anyone know his track record on firearms? On other issues that may be of interest to an Ohioan?

He was all for concealed carry, and his office got several reciprocity deals done with other states at fast-for-government speed.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Jim Petro was the key note speaker at one of the previous Partys in the Park.

The general concensus is that he is pro-gun.

He was a very good AG in my opinion. We'd endorse him in a minute if he ran.

I look forward to it. I'm tired of looking at rigged elections. DeWhine versus Brown was bad enough... now we can look forward to McStain vs. Osama... it is very frustrating.

Looks like my party cannot find a viable candidate to run for this office. Supports my contention this will be a sour year for R's. Since all the A tier candidates have passed, it's on to find the sacrificial lamb, and lead it towards the abattoir.

What a shame. I can understand his reasoning for not running but it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

Petro update 2022

Post by kcclark »

I doubt Petro is going to run for office again but if he does, I'd say his pro-gun reputation is tarnished. He is endorsing Tim Ryan for US Senate.
Several Republicans from around Ohio are coming out in support of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Ryan
The group also includes Jim Petro, the Republican former Ohio Attorney General and Ohio Auditor

Their not looking at the big picture. Republicans need to take over the Senate to save the country from economic disaster.
